Any advice on Oxycodone withdrawal?

Has anybody who is currently reading this ever conquered opiate withdrawal?
Answer:
you'll need to have a doctor advise you on how to slowly taper off of this drug. I do have suggestions that will help make the withdrawal be easier for you. Here is what I suggest to get you over the worst part of the withdrawals. To help with the withdrawals take hot bathes with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. The skin is the biggest organ of elimination and this will help pull out the drugs. Use a loofa to clean the pores and this will help pull the drugs out even faster. Drink lots of water and 2c. a day of fresh carrot juice, to flush the medicine out of your liver. You can take 500mg of calcium and magnesium twice a day to help you relax. Drink chamomile tea throughout the day and evening to help you stay relaxed. Use a powdered fiber supplement twice daily to pull the drugs out of your intestines where they can store. Two of the questionnaires in this forum did follow this program to withdraw from drugs and it did help. I've enclosed a link where you can read their response to this program. If you have any further questions please let me know,

Been there. It's possible. Tapering slowly is important. The withdrawal won't be that bad if you're on a low dose. But if you've been on a high dose, or taking it more than recommended, you'll probably have symptoms.A doctor can help you through this. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication that will dramatically improve withdrawal symptoms. You might also want to ask for a muscle relaxant like flexeril to help with the spasms.
I have not withdrawn my self but have seen it- if you are taking oxy for any length of time you have to taper it off slowly. You will feel sick like having a flue, talk to your doctor about it and dont do it alone.
withdrawal symptoms are dangerous and potentially fatal -never attempt this without being under the care of your physician.
it can be very difficult. you dont realise the extent of the addiction until you give it away. stop completly, do not slow the intake as if you are weaning yourself off. it does not work. i sucked on strong mints for two weeks. each time i took a breath with the mints it relieved my cravings. but then we are all different. give it a try and/or consult your doctor

Any advice for a person with an ear infection?

its clogged since last nigt and i cant seem to get it open. it was hurting so bad last night so i took an ibroprphren(bad spelling sorry) and the pain went away but my ear was still clogged in the morning when i woke up.any advice on what i can use at home?
Answer:
It depends on what kind of infection you are talking about. If it is an infection in the ear canal, it is most likely caused by moisture which makes fungus grow. To treat it, buy Lotrimin drops from the drug store and use these twice a day for a week. It will actually feel better after a couple of days but you want to really clear it, so continue to use it for the entire week.If it is a middle ear infection, behind the eardrum, this is more difficult to treat. This is caused by the eustachian tube (the tube from the inner ear that drains fluid into the throat) becoming swollen shut. To help open it up, close yourself up in a very steamy bathroom until you feel the pressure subside. Also, drinking hot tea, as hot as you can stand, will help get the eustachian tube flowing properly again. You need to keep the eustachian tube open in order for the fluid to continue to drain properly and relieve the pain. Take ibuprofen every 8 hours as well as an allergy medicine such as Claritin or Benadryl for a week to 10 days. If it does not start to improve within a couple of days, it would be best to see a physician, because if the tube does not open, your ear drum could end up ripping so that the fluid can get out. If that happens, the pain will be relieved but a tear can take a long time to heal, during which time you cannot go swimming.
infection or any any condition in the ear really hurts. The best thing is not tyo try to mess with it yourself. It is good to takke pain-killers but then you have to clear the trouble. As a first aid to clear it you can soak a piece of cotton with oil (cooking oil) and insert it in the first part of your ear. It will releive the clogged ear. However as soon as you can go to a doctor to see the trouble. You may need to clean your ear of the extra wax that is produced by the ear itself. He will do it himself.
Hope to have been of help. Here it is used very much especially with children together with adults.

Any Advice For FROZEN SHOULDER?

I am a 56 year old man and have been having pain in my shoulder for the past 5 months. After an MRI scan, I have been diagonsed with tendonitis and a frozen shoulder.
They tell me is is caused by inflammation but can offer no treatment to ease the pain other than an operation. It is bearable during the day when i am mobile..but at night it is terrible and i cant cant get any decent sleep. ( I dont lay on it )
I just wondered if anyone out there has had the same problem and have you got any suggestions that might help me...i am having physio twice a week, but its not helping. Thanks for your time.
Answer:
Hi there,I am a Massage Therapist preaching to myself as well as sharing with you.
I also have had problems with my shoulder, especially the right, and for a couple of years.
Without knowing much more about YOUR shoulder, I could go into endless causes for the problems, which would take up a log ot room and probably bore you if I don;t hit YOURS really quickly.
I'll be glad to share what I know and have experienced in shoulder problems AND solutions. Contact me at my website, 'source'.
pain killer and gentle regular exercise
Consult a doctor.
put it in the microwave
try pernaton gel. You can get it in any health food shop or pharmacy
try glucosamine sulphate from health food shops - it helps arthritis so it might help your shoulder - are you sure its a frozen shoulder, i had one a few years ago but after rest and pain killers it was ok after a week or so.
heat, massage %26 have the surgery 70 yr old did it helped
i have a frozen shoulder from a car crash i was in 3 years ago. the nurse at my doctors said to keep it moving if you rest it it gets worse. she told me to put my hand on my shoulder as support then make circles with your arm first one way then the other keep it mobile.
Dear Frozen,
I empathize! After a "Slip %26 Fall" I suffered from "Frozen sholder" for 3 years. I finally found a couple physicians (Pain%26 Craino-sacral) who availed me the opportunity to drive, place my hand in my back pocket, and utilize my arm in ways we thought were not possible. It took a while but I have never had a problem with my arm since. I too had been told there was nothing that could be done short of surgery prior. (I still peck at typing though-small price to pay for the gain.) To the point. INTENSIVE DEEP TISSUE THERAPY which included... 8-10 steroidal shots into the atrified (frozen) area and the manual breakage of fibroid tissue which builds up in and around the muscle rendering it inoperable and increases pain, inflamation, etc.. to ther area. It is a bit painful, adds a bit of weight gain (quite a bit if you need a lot done) But after the weight, pain, and therapy was over I lost the weight and am sooo grateful for the benefits. I know it may not be the greatest modality if you are into holistic remedies (such as myself) but it is well worth the sacrifice in the long run. (2 yrs therapy vs lifetime of loss and discomfort). My hopes are with you. And may you find the peace you seek! Xeno
You have to work on that shoulder yourself also. Walk the am up a door frame and then stand with both arms on the door frame and lean inside of the room. However ask your medical professionals if this is all right for you to do first.
I too am having the same problem and the simple exercise regime advised by the physiotherapist has not helped me much. I am avoiding drugging myself with more pain killers, NSAIDS and so forth as I am taking medications for my heart also. I am recovering from a mycardial infarction last July 2006. Do link with me if something works out for you. I have a frozen LEFT shoulder with pain on the right shoulder too recently.
go to the ER if your shoulder is frozen
Painkillers %26 Ibuprofen should do the trick,
i am 52 had frozen shoulders 2 years ago had op which is steroid injection and cortozone into shoulder and manipulate shoulder while asleep now completly cured just odd twinge nothing really i also suffer with emphysma
i gave my cousin and a friend some reiki and an Indian head massage but also concentrated around the area of the part of shoulder that was tense, they laughed at me for doing it (as my family think I'm weird for being into complementary therapies) but had been off work for weeks with the pains! well guess what the next day they both called me and said the pain had almost gone and they felt better than they had in weeks!
Tell your doctor you would like a trigger point injection in your shoulder. I am a nurse and this is temporary, but effective relief. It consists of lidocaine(a numbing agent) and a simple steroid such as depo-medrol or kenalog. 1cc of each is drawn up in a syringe and injected into the affected joint. These sometimes alieviate the pain for up to 6 months at a time and is a common procedure at any family doctors office. It is not invasive as a surgery would be but can be more effective that some of the "natural" remedies. Go ahead!! It's like a shot of W-D 40!!!!
i have same and i rub MOVE LAT into it and that allows me a good nights sleep and daytime i use a plastic band to do exercises shown me by physio
I work on a rheumatology ward at my local orthopaedic hospital, we see patients like your self on a regular basis. Surgery is an option but if its too drastic for you then go back to your gp and ask for steroid injections. These are great for frozen shoulders our patients get great relief. I also suffer from it after a lifting injury so i know from experience that they work.
Please dont give up on the physiotherapy it does help to relieve it. I do hope this advice helps you.Good luck

Anus Burning?

2 days ago at a party i plugged a tab (Putting Ectasy in my anus) Witch usually burns for like 30 minutes. But after a few hourse my anus starting burning really bad. Like i couldent sit still. I had to soak my self in a bathtub for 2 hourse. The next day. It was still burning but it wasent as bad. But when i use the restroom. It starts to burn so bad that i start crying. then again i have to soak myself in the bathtub. This is the 3rd day ive had this. And still it is burning. I tried to look in a mirror but it is very hard. I think i might have found a bump. But i dont know if it was alrdy there. Can anybody help me?
Answer:
Stop asking here, and go seek a physician, you want to avoid getting an infection.the digestive system absorbs the MDMA more then your anus ever will. And you have to think how much of that crap is really pure.good day.
Go to the ER. they see this stuff all the time! You would want to make sure you dont have an infection brewing!
Go to your doctor and stop putting ectasy up your ***.
I think you might have learned your lesson on that one...I would hope!
It very well could be coincidental and not at all connected to your drug use. But, should it be just that, I hope it scared you enough...Normally, without the drug use, I would say that it could be either hemorrhoids or worms. However, with another substance involved, I could see where you wouldn't want to have it checked into, *but* having it checked into may be far better than having you "checked out"! ;) It's your choice...
maybe this situation has taught you a valuable lesson, not to do what you did again, you could have done some real damage, and i suggest you go to the doctor straight away, even though it will be embaressing to you to go there, you must seek help or you will suffer more.
if to embarrASSed to go to E.R. try some anusol hci with hyrdacortisone in it.
Dude. Really. Of course if you shove crap up your butt it's gonna hurt after a while. Anyways, I would have it checked out if I were you. It may be embaressing but that's better than getting an infection. Maybe take a pain killer. Or in your case: Shove a pain killer up your anus.
Well maybe you should ask whatever idiot who told you to stick drugs up your butt if they were trying to kill you or something? Stop messing around with drugs before you end up killing yourself. Doctors have seen everything, your pill up the butt is not as bad as putting a light bulb or gerbil up there. Please stop doing dumb stuff , your family loves you.
Ouch! What a pain in the A** that must be...
It sounds like you have ulcerated your rectum/anus from the E some sort of acid/chemical. You will need to be s/b a doctor who may refer you to a gastroenterologist. Have you tried 'sitz baths' ? While waiting your dr consult you could fill a clean bath with heaps of salt and warm water or large bowl and sit in it. This should help ease the pain and keep the area clean. Like wise if you can find a sterile or clean pad and soak that in saline (from the chemist) or salty water and apply that to the outside arear. Try not checking inside as this will only make it worse. You will know if the burn/ulcer has infected you by checking for fever. I hope you only have a haemrrhoid. Regards Alison

Anti Inflammatory - Which is better aspirin or ibuprofen?

I don't care about anything but anti-inflammatory benefits. I don't care about side effects, contraindications, other benefits, etc. Just need to know which is a better anti-inflammatory, aspirin or ibuprofen? Or is there an even better over the counter one?
Answer:
asprin
My doctor always recommends Ibuprofin. Aspirin is ok, but it also thins the blood and should NEVER be used for headaches associated with alcohol consumption.
I would go with ibuprofen versus aspirin. However be careful in the amount that you consume and how often you do. Most aspirin products are more used for its platelet effect and clotting prevention, where as ibuprofen is more utilized for pain management. You could also try Aleve, but ask the pharmacist if it is for a specific ailment. Any store brand ibuprofen will do. Save your money on the label brands .It is the same content, without the advertising markup
Ibuprofen generally comes in 200mg strength. Approach your pharmacist with dosing questions and or follow the label instructions
Aspirin is mainly for a headache, ibuprofen has moore all around purpose because it's a pain killer mainly, it affects a headache and pain produced by injury, I have taken ibuprofen mainly when I have sprained my ancle and I wanted to play so badly (BASKETBALL) so I take an ibuprofen and it makes me feel better and pain is smaller. But aspirin I took only when I had headche, baut aspirin is good for the hart , in small dosses it prevensts hart infarkt, my conclussion is that you cannot compare or teell which is beeter beacause they do different things to you, and heal you in different ways.
Aspirin is NOT an anti inflammatory. Aspirin is used for thinning the blood. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory. It helps reduce any swelling in the body that could be causing you pain. Ibuprofen is the best over the counter anti inflammatory. You can buy different strenghts, 200mg or 400mg. Don't let your chemist fool you into buying Nurofen, which is just a brand name for ibuprofen but costs double the price.
They both are NSAID's and provide the same effects. Both have the same side effects, like gastrointestinal upsets, gastric bleeding, prolonged bleeding times. If you suffer from any kind of blood and platelet diseases,or have a Hx of gastric upsets, you shouldn't take these meds. The benefit of taking Ibuprofen v/s aspirin is that you can take Tylenol,(acetaminophen),not an NSAID, with an NSAID together to provide extra pain relief. You can try a "Naprosyn" type NSAID,it's stronger and the dosing time is every 12 hours.Using a ice pack to the area will enhance the pain relief of any medication. All the meds I've mentioned can be bought OTC,the generic brands are cheaper, and just as effective. Why are you so hateful to those responding to your question ?All of us are just trying to help you.If you are in such pain, you may need to see a Doctor in the ER.Take care. SW RNP

Ant Bites?

I know fire ants bite, but do the normal little brown guys bite too?
Answer:
Yes, they bite too, but they normally dont hurt as bad. If you are allergic to them they will hurt really bad! Normally you dont even notice that one has bit you untill it the bug bite shows up and it starts to itch where as fire ants you normally notice when you get bit!
Yes, they are built practicaly the same way as fireants they just dont hurt as bad. Actually, you just feel the bite and thats it where as a fire ant hurts after and leaves a bump.
Yes, they too bite, but very rarely.PS: Have u seen how they r "more" carnivorous than the fire ants? It requires them to be quite 'bite-happy'!

Ant bite-pregnant?

I am 16 weeks pregnant and believe i got a ant or apider bite over the weekend.Yesterday i called the nurses on call and apparently i don't have any symptoms at all.
Should i get a tetanus shot??
Answer:
You wouldn't need to get a tetanus shot unless you stepped on a rusty nail, or cut yourself on something dirty. For any kind of bug bite, you don't need a tetanus shot.
UNLES YOU LIVE IN AFRICA
WITH THE RED ANTS YES
BUT NOT HERE IN STATES
THE ANTSD WE HAVE CLOSEST
PNCH YOU. FROM TEX ARIZ, MEX
CAL..FLA. THESE ANTS GIVE A WARM
STING.
RED ANTS GIVE A BARRACODA
STING AND DEADLY.
TELL A DR. YOU WON'T DIE UNLESS YOUR IN AFRICA.
BEST
a tetanus shot would not help with a spider bite, or ant bite. I would just but some cream on it, but i wouldn't worry about getting a tetanus shot.
Like everyone has said, a tetnus shot has nothing to do with getting ant or spider bites. You may or may not have any symptoms but I would check with a Doctor just to be on the safe side as they may be able to detect something from the site where you've been bitten. Never hurts to be cautious when pregnant.
A tentanus shot does nothing for a spider bite. Stop worrying hon, you'll be fine

Another question about a dislocated knee?

well i had my question answered before about me dislocating my knee and chipping my patella i was in cast for 6 weeks and got it off yesterday now im in a knee immobilizer. i start physical therapy soon. but right now i can walk and all but my knee is really weak and not to be gross but my knee is floppy and kind of like jello. like its really soft and weird compared to my other knee. its horrible. and so so weak. is this all normal? and what activities am i allowed to be doing considering im missing out on all the summer fun?
Answer:
You muscles have adjusted to the decrease demands of your leg over the past 6 wks and thus have shrunk (called atrophy). Its a perfectly normal response to what you went through. Physical therapy is gonna help you get back the strength in your muscles but YOU must put a lot of work into the rehab. For right now you have to wear the immobilizer b/c your weak muscles cannot protect your knee. You will not be allowed out of the immobilizer to walk until you can demonstrate increased strength, so you will not be doing a lot of activity over the next 8 wks at least. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the good news is you will get back to normal if you put a lot of effort into the therapy.
u is in soooo much trouble
Your knee is going to be like that because obviously the bone is seperated. Just take it slow and I promise you will be just fine.
do not do tedious jobs but try and exercise a little

Ankle Twist or Sprain?

Yesterday I was showing my friend a spin, and I hopped on it wrong and felt a sharp pain. I can walk on normally %26 even still dance on it basically, it's only if I turn my ankle in an unusual way or put lots of pressure on it I get small pain. There is absolutely NO SWELLING at all, just a minor bruising around the ankle.Since there is no swelling...what can I do to speed up the healing process? How long will it take? Will ice work.since ice is only for swelling?
Answer:
Definitely R.I.C.E. like everyone else has already suggested, but also get a x-ray to make sure nothing else is broken or chipped. You'd be surprised that the littlest injury can cause a small bone to chip. You may need to allow the ankle to heal a bit before going back to dancing. A temporary time in a walking boot will help and then a move to a lace-up ankle brace and then PT to help with the ankle rehab. Most sprain and twists of the ankle takes about 2-3 weeks.
Alternate heat %26 iceIce helps with swelling, but also increases blood flow.
Luck
go to an urgent care for an xray -you cannot rule out a fracture without one.
RICE. rest, ice (first 24-48 hrs), compression (use ace wrap) elevation.
Yes ice will help. Even if it doesn't really look swollen, there is swelling of the deep tissues.
Ice 20 min on 20 off for the next 24hrs. Keep it elevated. You can try some heat after a day if it is still sore.

Ankle surgery?

I had ankle surgery to repair 2 ligaments that were torn in half. They had to reconstruct them by placing 3 screws and some other stuff to my bone in my leg. I had surgery on January 23rd of this year. I've been doing phyical therapy for the past 2 months. I've noticed that my big toe is numb in some areas and my ankle and my whole foot in general swells up when I stand and walk on it for a few minutes. My Othopedic doctor says I'm putting too much pressure on the balls of my feet so I will need foot insole to relief the pain. I was wondering if anyone knows or has been through this situation if they know what is wrong with my ankle. This has been going on for a couple of months.
Answer:
Are there any signs of swelling around your knee? Do you exhibit any weakness in your feet? Have you had this since your surgery? It's possible that you may have a pinched nerve as a result of inflammation in or around the knee. I would guess that your inflammation in your foot is definitely contributing to the numbness of the toe. What I would do at this point is ice as much as I can to reduce the inflammation around your ankle and foot and consult another orthopedic surg. to examine you. Decreasing the inflammation is going to get rid of your numbness as well as the swelling.
Dr. Ali, DC
Hey I can relate to your situation, I have had 2 surgery of my left knee in the past 3 1/2 yrs and I have had my bad days while rehabbing. I would recommend that you go and get a 2nd opion or just keep telling your doctor about your pain and concerns. Also take a look at acuepuchure this may help you.

Ankle problems?

A few years ago i rolled my ankle in cheerleading, it was pretty bad even though i never went to the dr to see if there were any broken bones. My ankle is fine now but i twist it every now and then. My question. Is there any thing that i can do to prevent me from reinjuring my ankle the same way as before. I am getting ready to start cheering and tumbling again and i dont want to end up being out for a whole season cause of an ankle injury.
Answer:
It sounds like you may have Sprained it and if you did not receive proper Care during this time, it has never healed properly. There is also the chance Arthritis has set in it. Before you start CheerLeading again, go see a Doctor and let him Xray that ankle. He may put it in an elastic bandage to protect your ankle for awhile. Be safe not sorry.
get an ankle brace, it will help keep it stable
Be sure to wrap your ankle to keep it supported. That should help some. Also, go to your doctor and tell him what happened. He may recommend physical therapy and that too could help stregthen your ankle.
Make sure you wrap it in an ace bandage or tape. This will give it more support.
i would buy an ankle brace. my ankles roll all the time when i played bball. you can get them at any sports store.
Injuries never heal completely. The ligaments and tendons have been stretched and scarred. Buy a good brace or learn to tape.
You have chronic ankle instability. You should see your doctor and get sent off to see a physical therapist. If you do not properly rehab the ankle it will be unstable and the brace will only make it weaker.

Ankle pain when standing up!?

I'm completely confused. My left ankle hurts on the side facing inward (right side), but only when I stand up. For example, I sit down and watch T.V., stand up and I can barely walk for the pain. BUT after about 10-15 minutes it subsides to a point that I can still walk without limping.
It also hurts if I move it really quickly to make it point to the right.
I don't recall having injured it in any way. It's been going on for about 2 weeks.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Answer:
Overuse may be one cause, sometimes its work related. If there is no distinct swelling/redness you can rule out dislocations/fractures. I can tell you that it may be a muscle strain/ligament sprain or some type of rheumatism but its better to consult a doctor.
Could be Gout - try some black cherry juice and see if it goes away.
Funny that used to be the same with me but then it subsided. My ankle still hurts when I run and log. You're ankle might be infected, or swollen.
Stay off your feet, keep watching lots of TV.
It may be spur. You should take a X-ray photo.
Maybe you should see a doctor. It sounds like a ligament or a tendon . Doesn't sound too serious right now, but it could get worse.

Ankle Help?

Yesterday I was playing basketball with the guys and I went in for a lay up. One of the guys came in the way and I fell without expecting to and I rolled my ankle. It didn't hurt that much because of adrenaline and it hurt just a little later when I was resting it but it started to hurt in the morning and on and off all day today. Is there anything I can do to treat it back to normal?
Answer:
use Ice
You can use the RICE treatment
R=rest
I=ice
C=compression
E=elevation
R.I.C.E.
Rest: speaks for itself
Ice: ice packs
Compression: Put a compression bandage on it if you need support when you need to be up.
Elevation: keep it up as much as possible
Good luck
LOL! I wrote this before I knew the first person's answer! Smart!
Ankle Strain v.s. SprainStrains are injuries that affect muscles or tendons, thick bands that attach muscles to bones. They occur in response to a quick tear, twist, or pull of the muscle. Strains are an acute type of injury that results from overstretching or over contraction. Pain, weakness, and muscle spasms are common symptoms experienced after a strain occurs.Sprains are injuries that affect ligaments, thick bands of cartilage that attach bone to bone. They occur in response to a stretch or tear of a ligament. Sprains are an acute type of injury that results from trauma such as a fall or outside force that displaces the surrounding joint from its normal alignment. Sprains can range from a mild ligamentous stretch to a complete tear. Bruising, swelling, instability, and painful movement are common symptoms experienced after a sprain occurs.RICE is the acronym used for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. It is used as the best initial treatment of soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, and contusions. The combination of RICE helps reduce inflammation that occurs after acute injury. It is important to remember that the earlier this treatment is put into place, the more effective it is.Rest: Rest and protect the injured area. If it hurts to bear weight on the injury, use crutches, or a cane.Ice: Apply ice to the injury. The cold will reduce swelling and pain at the injured site. This step should be done as soon as possible. Apply the frozen object to the area for 20 minutes three times a day for the first 48 hours.Compression: Compress the injured site. This will decrease swelling of the injured region. Although the wrap should be snug, make sure it is not too tight as this can cause numbness, tingling, or increased pain.Elevation: Elevate the injured area above the level of the heart as much as possible. This technique will also assist in reducing the amount of swelling to the injured site.Once the pain and swelling are eliminated, you should start gradual range of motion exercises but not to the point of pain. Each day your range of motion will increase slightly. Continue until you have complete range of motion. Than start gentle strengthening exercises to re-build the strength in the ankle. The stiffness will go away over time.Good LuckSee http://www.coldoneinc.com/ankle_wrap.htm...

Ankle Brace Please help!!!?

I sprained my ankle and 6 days later it is still painful to move it around and up and down and to the side. It also hurts to walk on it. I am not using crutches but I am using an ankle brace and I don't know how long to use it for. It also still appears swollen slightly. It is bigger and rounder than my other ankle and It hurts when I am elevating it. I'm just wondering because I am 14 and in middle school. and I have to take P.E but I am probably going to get a note because taking P.E a few days ago really irritated it. Also I hurt it when I fell down the stairs please help me.
Answer:
Yes you should have your parents take you to a doctor because there is a possibility that there is a fracture in your ankle. I would recommend that you see an orthopedic doctor because they will be able to properly diagnose the problem with your ankle and give you the best treatment options for your ankle. In the meantime, place an ice bag on the area that hurts and is swollen, take an over the counter anti-inflammatory(Advil, Aleve, etc), and try to walk as little as possible. Wear the ankle brace for a couple of weeks because that will help protect the ligaments (assuming its just a sprain) and allow them to heal. Ask your doctor to send you to physical therapy to properly rehab the ankle so you dont have problems with it in the future.
Sweetie,
Have your parents take you to a doctor. Have you told them about it yet? It could be broken only an x-ray will tell for sure. Please go to the doctor and get it taken care of.
Good luck to you.
Has it been x-rayed? It could be a number of things wrong. When I was 17 I fell in a P.E. class and tore the ligaments in my ankle. I walked on crutches and with a cane for a long time. I am now 47 and I still have problems with it.
yes it could be broke, and what you are saying sounds like normal s/s of a sprain/strain. But it sounds like you have not been to the doc for this and you really need to.

Anal polyp or hemorrhoid?

Is it possible to have a hemorrhoid for years without it going away on its own or causing any discomfort at all? Because there is a bump right at the outside... it's the same color as everything else, just a bump... quite noticable now. But it's been there for several years, I didn't think anything of it until now, because it has never hurt. I'm really nervous about it... serious responses only, please! Thanks...

There are 3 common types of anaemia, all of which need confirmation by blood test. Iron, B12 and folate deficiency. Plus some rarer types. Treatment would depend on which of these you have and the cause, intake, loss or malabsorption.
Anything with tons of Iron!!
Red meat has alot of iron in it. At real cast iron skillet will also put iron into your food.
broccoli
red meat
spinach (this is lovely raw in salads)take care x
Iron rich foods are what you need.
Spinach would be my choice, but liver is excellent too - but maybe you are vegetarian.
red meat . eggs. and the doc should have given you iron tablets
Red meat, Cabbage, Broccoli, liver, kidneys and other green veg. You could also take an iron supplement although i assume the GP prescribed you one?
you need iron -- didn't your doctor give you iron pills? If not you can get them at a health food store or any place that sells supplements.
iron-rich foods, like spinach, red meats, raisins...for a "quick" jump, there are iron supplements available as well; natural source is absorbed better by your body, if you have a choice.
anything that is high in iron or folic acid, foods include broccoli, any dark green leafy veg. bran, you can just get some multi vitamins that contain iron...
Spinach, an iron suplement, use a cast iron skillet and metal utencils to cook with, orange juice, etc.
lean red meat, turkey, liver, leafy green vegetable especially things like broccoli, spinach, water cress, brown rice, tofu, beans, lentils, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, avocado, eggs, fish such as sardines and tune, wholewheat breads and cereals, dried fruite like apricot, raisins and prunes, nuts
i have iron deficient anemia so my mom has a juicer and i juice spinach and other green veggies. no it doesn't taste good but i feel 10x better and am not fatigued all the time like before. my mom adds in an apple to help with the taste :) we do this 2x a day and each juice has 8 oz in it. just chug it and its not too bad really. look online for good juicing recipes.
It is not such a big deal, I think you only need to increase your iron intake.
Please see this article for advice on what to eat.
(u could also take a supplement to make sure you're getting enough iron).

An over dose of 30 paracetamol 3 hours later threw them up she keeps feels sick but seems ok shes 15?

what will happen
Answer:
You should call poison control right now. That could thin her blood and cause her to bleed internally, and it CAN cause permanent liver damage. She may have thrown up 3 hours later, but those drugs are ALREADY in her blood stream. She didn't throw THEM up...she just threw up.For those who don't know, paracetamol is like Tylenol.
Call 1-800-222-1222. Its the Poison control line. They can tell you what to do.
She is probably having a chemical reaction to the drug, did she drink with the pills? Because that will cause you to puke for a day or 2. Call your local hospital, and see if they tell you to bring her in.
I don't know what that drug is, but your wording includes "OVERDOSE" which to me = trip to ER??
go to the ER. AN overdose of ANYTHING cannot be good. Don't risk it! THen get her help with the fact that she's 15 and overdosed!!!!!!!...
I think she should go to the hospital to be on the safe side.Or you may want to call a pharmacist and ask what could happen.
There is a great chance of toxicity to the liver, with the resultant damage and failure. Get her to the hospital for physical as well as psychiatric treatment immediately. This quote is from a leading British medical journal " There are an estimated 70,000 overdose suicide attempts using this drug in the United Kingdom per year, and Lancet notes that ".as little as 10 grams may be sufficient to cause acute liver injury."
she should call poison control in her area or

1-800-222-1222then tell them what happened, and FOLLOW their instructionsbut go to the doctor or tell someone NOW. it does not matter if she feels fine. things should still be checked out
HAHA paracetamol does not thin blood aspirin does that. An overdose of that quantity is V harmful. It can shut down the liver and posion the body. A person often takes that many if they want to commit suicide and it often works. You need to go to the hospital. They would consider what to do because even if she has thrown them up she may need observation and liver function test (lft's).All the best, and mum, try to find out why it happened... Your daughter may need some support atm. Please don't get angry with her :)
Normally you would induce vomiting with activated charcoal or ipecac. If this was ineffective you would need to take her to Er for Gastric lavage.
You did state that she has vomited them up. Keep watch over her as she will feel sick for a day or so. She just abused her body and it will rebel.
If you are not comfortable at home with her you can take her to the ER but I doubt they can do much more for her then monitor her condition. When she feels better please try and get to the bottom of why she felt it was necessary to do this. She needs your support and reassurance that she is loved and wanted. Speak with a family counselor.
Go to the ER now..paracetamol is acetaminophen, Tylenol here in the states... an overdose needs blood work in a hospital ER. They will check the level of the drug in her blood and check her liver's reaction to any amount of the drug. There is a med they can give but waiting makes it ineffective, do not wait any longer...And since you asked, it could lead to permanent liver failure=needs new liver=transplant or death.
Do not delay seeking medical attention! residual affects are dangerous.. go.. go now! dona

An odd arm issue I get when training with my sword in kung fu?

Alright. First of all I know its not the sword because it is a special ultra light one that weighs less than a pound. Anyways what happens is sometimes when I swing in an outward motion with my right arm as hard as I can my shoulder will temporarily dislocate. At least thats how it feels. It pops right back in as soon as the swing is done but it become unhinged for a second and its massively painful. Anyways I wanted to ask what may be causing this and how I could stop it.
Answer:
My second son has the same problem. He has dislocated his joints many times. It's a condition.

An embarrasing problem.. no abusive answers please?

I am really afraid of shots. I have not had one for two years though, but when I learned I had to have a TB test I go paranoid. Is there anything I can do to overcome this fear?
Answer:
I refuse vaccines of any kind, but when I have blood drawn (makes me queasy) I learned that if I suck on a peppermint or eat a chocolate covered caramel candy (and look away from the needle) it really helps a lot. Aromatherapy helps; spray on some great smelling perfume before you go in.Don't feel bad. My brother faints every time he just LOOKS at a needle (he almost fainted at the birth of his child), while my little daughter is totally unfazed no matter how many times she gets stuck. We're all different.
don't allow paranoia to control you - be assured, a shot is almost painless !
Don't look at the needle when they're taking blood/giving shots...talk to someone else in the room and don't even pay attention to it...other than that...i;m not sure how to ease your anxiety...sorry!
ciao for now,
tara =D
just face your fears.i had to get shots once a day for a year and before that i was not scared of them but i didn't like them but now i am used to them and realize that they are not so bad. i hope that helped.
Just close your eyes and look away, or bring someone with you to hold your hand. I had to have a TB test when I started work at a daycare, and it was pretty painless, just a pinch. Just squeeze your eyes shut, look the other way, or hold onto something of comfort to you (a person, a stress ball, etc...)
Turn your head AWAY from the arm they'll be doing the TB test on. And when you're pricked...DON'T TURN AROUND until it's done with. Oh, and you might wanna clench your jaws a bit too...
Im afraid of shots too but i just wait for the lolipop after =).
Don't worry at all, really. It's better to just have a little shot for 5 seconds than to have a serious illness for 5 years, right?
There's nothing to worry about. Just think about something else; start a conversation with someone, even make jokes, and, also, don't look at your arm (or whatever they do the shot in) while they actually do the shot. Don't tense you muscle, either.
You'll be fine, just as long as you believe you'll be.
I don't know how to ease your fear, but I might be able to add a little comfort in letting you know that a tb shot does not go straight into your arm, but just under the skin. You will be ok.
I am a fainter, especially when I'm having blood drawn, and here are my tips:
1. Tell the healthcare provider, "I'm afraid of shots. I get lightheaded. Please help distract me during this." He/she really needs to know this.
2. Talk to the healthcare provider about yourself, such as "I had such a bad day at school today!" or "I'm thinking about having my hair dyed green" or whatever!
3. Ask the healthcare provider questions about him or herself. "What education do you have to have to do this?" "How long have you worked here?"
4. Take a deep breath before the shot and BREATHE OUT SLOWLY during the shot. This will keep you from tensing up.I hope this has been helpful.
I understand, I hate getting shots, having blood drawn, an IV is just the worst! But, I don't let it control me. I tell the person that I have a fear of needles and they reassure me and work as quickly as possible. I do my part by looking away and sitting still. As for a TB test, is it just a skin test? If so that isn't so bad. It's a 1in x1in square or there about that they press on your forearm-think the pokey side of velcro-and they take right back off. All that happens is that you wait to see if you have a reaction over the next day or two. You'll do just fine.
I think most people aren't big fans of needles. I agree with others who've said not to look at it. When you look at it, it just bugs you more. Your heart rate speed ups, your breathing speeds up, and you may start to get dizzy. For the TB test, eat before you go. Tell the nurse you hate needles. Bring something to read while she's doing the test. And chew on gum, a mint, a chocolate. Basically, anything that takes your mind off of what's going to happen. A lot of it is mental. I know the pain itself is no problem, it's usually when I get blood drawn and watch it that bothers me. Focus on other things. That's the key.

Amoxicillin and alcohol?

Ok i know its not a good idea if i HAD to could i get drunk tonight starting at 8pm if the last time i took 500mg amoxicillin at 12pm??would it be ok?theres 8hours between?i wont be drinking in moderation il be getting drunk?will the amoxicillin affect this?NO MYTHS whats the bottom line? Thanks!
Answer:
Don't drink with the meds - you can wait another couple of days to get drunk.
The anti-biotic won't interfere with you getting drunk. The alcohol will interfere with the anit-biotics affect and render it useless.
Amoxyl is one anti-biotic that does not go well with alchohol. Booze stops it working and wipes out the effect of the anti-biotic course you are on. There are other anti-biotics you can take that aren't affected by booze but they are less pokey.
Trust me! You really don't want to do this! Bad idea!If you get terribly drunk and take an antibiotics too you will be ILL and I mean ILL! Also the antibiotics won't have a chance to work properly so be wise and don't drink while you're on antibiotics! You could end up in hospital. Seen it!
You ask "would it be ok?" -Would what be ok? You won't die.
You also ask "will the amoxicillin affect this?" -I assume that "this" is your getting drunk. No, amoxicillin won't affect your getting drunk. You can still get drunk. It is your immune system that cures you of whatever it is you have, and not the antibiotic.. the antibiotic only assists your immune system. Alcohol as you know lessens the effectiveness of your immune system.500mg is a hefty dose.. It would be interesting to see if you will even be in the MOOD to drink after that dose.. even 8hrs after.
Ask yourself "Do I want to get rid of the infection or do I want to get drunk?" You can get drunk anytime but you can't get rid of it without you meds. And it's stupid to waste your meds when drinking cause it's not gonna do anything. Why did you get your meds if you aren't gonna use them correctly? If you don't take them correctly you may be headed back to doc for more. Make the right decision and take care of you, then once your better you can celebrate!!

AMO Complete Moisture Solution?

I realize that there has been a recall on this brand, but I was wondering where could I find the packaging number or label to se if my solution is one of those being infected. Thanks in advance!
Answer:
They're recalling the whole product with that name. Take it back ot the store that sold it to you, or infact, any store that sells it for a full refund.

Amitriptyline?

I've been given amitriptyline tablets for severe headaches/neuralgia but they don't seem to relieve the pain any.Has anyone ever been prescribed these and did they eventually work?
Answer:
i take this for migraine prevention. i take it every night before bed. it helps regulate the sleep patterns for a more restful sleep. when you sleep your chemical, hormones and whatever need to "reset" for the day and this drug helps get a more restful (productive) sleep. it may take awhile to help with the sleep and even out. i was not given it to stop the migraine pain, but to prevent them. to stop pain of a migraine you will need to find an abortive drug as in , imitrex, zomig, replax, maxalt etc.
Amitriptyline is given to aid pain management with another pain killer. This is well documented for treatment for severe pain.If it has been prescribed on it's own it suggest the doctor thinks the headaches and neuralgia are stress related.
STOP taking them! They cause memory loss in a huge way! My sister was prescribed them and now has horrible memory loss to the point where she cannot even drive anymore. Seek help from a chiropractor or pain specialist.
I recommend you see a chiropractor for headaches. They can sometimes do Miraculously things for you on the first visit. Continually taking medication is not going to be the overall answer to correcting the problem. Nothing can stop a headache as quickly as a chiropractic treatment.
Amitriptyline is in a class of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants

Ambien or Ambien CR?

I have trouble falling asleep, and than staying asleep. Does Ambien cr address both of these problems, or just with staying asleep? Will it help me fall asleep quickly too?
Answer:
It will also help you fall asleep quickly. The time it takes to kick in varies; if you want it to work faster, avoid eating for 2-3 hours before taking it (or more if you are able to do that). When I eat before taking it or after taking it it can take over an hour to start working, but if I haven't eaten in a few hours it works in about 15 mins. My doctor told me to brush my teeth, take it, and get into bed. That also helps to make it work faster; if you take it and then try to watch tv or get on the computer it will take longer to kick in. Hope you get some good sleep!
sounds like you may suffer from insomnia. Have you tried any natural sleep aids? Melatonin may be right for you and you most likely wont need a prescription. visit http://www.realhomeremedies.com... and click on the insomnia link on the left for more tips and info.

Ambien doses?

My doctor prescribed Ambiem in the 10mg dosage. I've taken this dosage and it is not helping me sleep. What happens if I take another one??
Answer:
Ambien comes in 5mg and 10mg. Your doctor has given you the higher of the two and I would seriously consider that dose to be the limit.
Ambien is not the kind of sleeping pill that will make you groggy or tired. Basically you have to work with it. Which means take it and within 15 minutes or less, lay down to sleep. Close your eyes. Thats the way it is supposed to work.
Even tho you may not be falling asleep, Ambien still works in a way that you might be able to function even hours after you take it, but it can cause a sort of "amnesia".What you did after it took effect and before sleep may not be retrievable as a memory. Recent reports were also of people even driving while taking Ambien.
There is also Ambien CR, which does help you to fall asleep in the same manner, but it will also help you to stay asleep by releasing the med slowly into your system. Ambien CR (controlled release) might leave you a bit tired the next day.
Ambien is an effective medication for difficulty sleeping. In that you've taken 10 mg with no success, I would guess that you may have expected to get tired or groggy. Work with your sleep habits and environment before you decide 10mg isnt doing it for you. Avoid caffeine, exercise, reading provoking material, watching TV in your bedroom before sleep. Keep your bedroom dark enough and at a comfortable temp as well to encourage sleep. Like I said, take the Ambien and lay down and it should do its stuff. I would consider self medicating over 10 mg to be ineffective and dangerous.
If none of this helps, likely you'd have to change to a different med.
Good Luck.
If it's not helping you sleep i would check with your doctor instead of taking another one. I personally don't like sleeping medication in the first place...for a lot of reasons, but it is very easy to become dependant on them, so be very very careful.and talk with your doctor about everything
You should not exceed this dose. It is the maximum recommended dosage for adults. This medication is for short term use only, if your insomnia is a chronic problem you should ask for a different prescription. Also, make sure you do not drink alcohol or take over the counter medicines while on this med. as there are many interactions.
Sweet dreams
God bless
in my personal experience. 20mg (which is against the label and prescribing guidelines) doesn't help me sleep... it makes me groggy and restless and not able to enjoy whatever I do with my evening (studying, researching, cleaning stuff), but when I actually do manage to fall asleep. I'm freaking dead to the world until 1:30pm the next day. elephants can prance around outside, the neighbor can bang on the door, my phone can ring incessantly, and I have no awareness of it..and its not really restful sleep.. still feel groggy and worn out even after sleeping half the day

Am looking to pack the weed in! struggle to sleep!?

mentally ive just about cracked it, been going to the gym to make myself tired at night, but thats not working now. any ideas to get to sleep??
Answer:
Why don't you try autogenous training? That's imagining a very peaceful scene, like walking thru the woods, or flying in a balloon over a beautiful land side, or picking flowers in a secret garden. Every time you want to sleep, you go thru the same sequence. Also relax all the muscles in your body, one by one, starting with your feet. You really must feel how your legs and arms get heavier as you relax the muscles. Remove all worries from your mind (you can't do anything about them anyhow right this moment). Before going to bed you may drink some chamomile-tea with honey. Listen to soothing music, always the same themes. And most important of all: don't worry about not being able to sleep. If you get nervous, sleep never will come.
good for you ! have you tried any herbal remedies from the chemist ?( pardon the pun ! ) what about reading a good book ?

Am i worrying too much?

Answer:
Sounds like a sprain/bruise to me. Ice the area and the pain should subside in a few days.
it will heal.if motion and flexibility dont return then worry and see a physician
I would go to the doctor if you are really worried.

Am I the only person in the world this happened to?

I wore hard contact lenses before they made the "gas permeable" ones. I wore them form age 13-28. At about age 16, my left eye started bothering me only with the contact in. My opthamologist told me my eyes had almost no tears and to buy some artificial tears. That helped some. So I continued to wear them. Once I was 27 the left one really hurt bad, and another opthamologist said my eyes were extremely dry, but wearing the lenses wouldn't hurt anything. When I was 28, I had to stop wearing them because the left eye was too painful. only with the contact in Then an opthamologist told me a was a perfect candidate for "Radial Keratotomy".(That was before lasik.) Ever since, I've had the pain in my left eye just like the contact lens was in, but I can't take it out because there's no lens in there. After going around the country to over 60 doctors, they all agreed that pain medication was the only option. So I'm on morphine and codeine. It helps some.
Answer:
I've never heard of such a thing but, I agree that sucks. It would seem like these doctors would have seen this coming and been able to change treatment somehow. What I don't understand is whether this was a natural thing or something brought on by wearing the contacts ... etc. I'm sad to hear about that happening to you - good luck.
wow, that sucks! i hate eye stuff, i am sorry that happened to you. i worry about my eyes all the time. good luck!

Am i taking too many Vitamins ?

i have had a miscarriage in december and my body is really down i have lots of problems down there etc. and my immune system is reallly really down are these vitamins too many to take for the things i have had wrong ?
Cranberry Concentrate Capsules - for Urinary Tract infection - so i dont get it again !
Acidophillus Tablets - for Bacterial Vaginosis which i have still got but taking antibiotics and these to try and get rid of it !
Vitamin C - To try and improve my immune system !
Echineaca - To try and improve my immune system ! boots said to take them aswell !
and Skin Hair and Nails from holland and barrat because my hair is a little thin !
i take 1 of each of the above everyday is this too many ? coz i feel i need them all !
please tell me what u think ?
thanxs xx
Answer:
i think your fine taking all that... because i take it all too!! ... apart from the skin hair and nails and vitamin c. Your skin, hair and nails will be fine as long as you eat healthy, get in plently of fruit and veg and drink lots of water, then you wont need those tablets, which i can imagine will save you some money! I'd also drop the vitamin c tablets and eat lots of kiwis and strawberrys which a naturally high in vitamin c, more than an orange would you believe. Echineaca is great stuff, you wont have a cold for yrs if you stick to it and acidophilus is great for healthy, bowels, water works etc. Just make sure you're eating healthy as well and you'll be fine. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage also xx
None of these will do you any harm and some may actually do you some good. If you have a well balanced diet, you probably don't need any of them. If you feel better for it, and the expense isn't too great, keep taking them - at least you'll have the most vitamin enriched pee in your street.
Way too many. Try eating right - more veggies and fruit.
Taking a multivitamin with a glass of cranberry juice everyday would be alot easier.
All a waste of time. If you eat a balanced diet you don't need any of these. The body finds it hard to absorb any vitamins and minerals from supplements anyway. The optimum way is through eating a proper diet.
Evidence (not just hearsay) has shown echinacea has no benefits to your immune system whatsoever.
Same for too much vit C, in fact too much can cause problems.
As for the other stuff, forget it. Why not drink a little cranberry juice (100mls) a day?
The food supplement industry is one of the biggest confidence tricks in retail history. If you were that really malnourished your GP would prescribe them for you.
Echineaca can be a problem with interactions with other medications and formulations. Too many times, problems can be CAUSED by an overzealous immune system. Proper, basic nutrition would be all you need for your hair. I'd be very suspicious about anything oral that is supposed to improve my hair. Protein is the basic element there, along with healthy fats. A multi-vitamin can help and probably won't hurt, but be conservative. Good nutrition is essential to health, but that does not take a lot of exotic and expensive supplements. That takes eating a variety of good foods.
Noone has ever died of too many vitamins!
What is recommended intake is just enough to keep you from diseases! (Debated over the years)
Get a blood test and find out if there is any vitamins/minerals you are missing.

Am i suffering with migraines?

for years now i have unbareable pain in my head quite diferent from a head ache, very sharp pains in back and the side of my head, also i have pain around my eye area. i get these nearly everyday. i also feel very nauseas and faint when the pain starts. no pain killers seem to work any more.
ive read about migraines and they tell me i should only be suffering 4 head aches a month but i get them every day.
Answer:
A migraine is a very painful type of headache. People who get migraines often describe the pain as pulsing or throbbing in one area of the head. During migraines, people are very sensitive to light and sound. They may also become nauseated and vomit. Migraine is three times more common in women than in men. Some people can tell when they are about to have a migraine because they see flashing lights or zigzag lines or they temporarily lose their vision. Many things can trigger a migraine. These include Anxiety
Stress
Lack of food or sleep
Exposure to light
Hormonal changes (in women) Doctors used to believe migraines were linked to the opening and narrowing of blood vessels in the head. Now they believe the cause is related to genes that control the activity of some brain cells. Medicines can help prevent migraine attacks or help relieve symptoms of attacks when they happen. For many people, treatments to relieve stress can also help.I used to suffer with migraines, and believe it or not, nothing worked for me from the doctors, until i tried annadin extra and it did the trick. Also i had to slow down in life as i was constantly on the go and never gave myself time out, as so to speak. I had to become more relaxed. Also injections from your doctor can help but it's trial and error.
I hope you find something to combat this problem becuase i know how badly it can affect your life.
Good luck..
It definately sounds like you should see your doctor about it, whatever it is!
I'd say go and see your doctor, but if you're stressed a lot it could be Tension headaches. Or sometimes certain food eg. Cheese, citrus fruits, coffee, chocolate, red wine, pine-apple juice can all trigger migranes. I've had them for years and only recently i realised how to control them. So check your diet and control your stress and if that still does'nt help, check your GP then. Good luck
i had verry similar simptoms, i had migraines everyother day.. it was most of all painful in the back of my neck it hurt everywhare too tho. i actually would throw up once a week from the nausea and pain..i went to the ciropractor and he workd on me and i dont get them anymore...but it was bad everyother day ...aaawww..i wanted to die....pain killers dont work for me either..whick s*cked because when i had a tooth ach nothing helped.. there are alot of reasons why people get migraines..oh ya there was this girl i worked with she was the one who refurred me she said she had realy bad migraines all the time so she went there and he said you have problems with you sinuses right she said no i never had problems with that he said yes you do, he cracked something and this huge huge puddle of snot came pouring out of her nose Grose i know but the pressure went away right away...
I've been a migraine sufferer for years - this almost sounds like a migraine with the exception of yours coming every day.
You shouldn't wait to see your doctor in case it is something more pressing, also get your eyes checked.
It sounds similar to a migraine. I get them and they feel awful!! I've know of people who get them nearly everyday and have to be on daily medication. Either way, daily severe headaches are still a serious issue that needs to be addressed by a doctor right away.
Your symptoms seem classic cluster headaches which effect the side of the head and eye area. Cluster headaches are similar to migrain as they are normally triggered the same way and symptoms similar. As your suffering every day i suggest you see your GP.Many things can trigger these headaches, food, alcohol, sun light to name a few.If your headaches are debilitating and your able lie in a dark room and try to sleep after taking some painkillers ( you can get migrain medication over the counter) This should relieve symptoms. The best thing is to see what triggers these headaches in the first place as prevention is far better than cure.Hope this helps
This sounds to me like "cluster headaches", which is really daily migraines. I use to have these and they were debilitating. My doctor put me on a beta blocker (corgard) and now I may have one migraine a year if that. Take care of yourself. Please see the doctor...
Hi:I am also a migraine sufferer since the age of 6. It sounds to me as if you are having classic migraines.Make an appointment with you doctor and he can diagnose and treat your migraines. Hopefully place you on a medication that will help to prevent them and also a medication to use when one breaks thru.Call your doc and get an appointment, it's worth it.Be safe and be well
Hi, you must see your g.p. but in the meantime go on this website www.tna.org.uk it explains about a condition called trigeminal neuralgia. Your pain may be caused by this. Most people, when hearing the word neuralgia, think it's a mild case of 'face ache', trust me, this is not the case. I have been a sufferer for many years and migraine, even classic migraine, does not come close to the agony felt by patients with T.N. Again, see your g.p. he/she will listen to your description of your symptoms and be able to diagnose the problem, but it does sound like T.N. Sorry for you if it is, you have a lot of pain coming your way, my friend. Take care and keep smiling
I dontthink this is typical migrane - sounds like tension/stress headaches. You should see your doctorAlso consider come stress reducing massage/indian head massage to relax the muscles in your neck and shoulders.hope you feel better soon
hi i also suffer from terrible migraines and they could last up to 4-5 days especially if i was stressed i always used migraleve tablets untill one day i actually went blind on one side it was so weird thought i had a brain tumor or some thing to that effect went back to the docs and he gave me these new tablets called sumatripan 50mg...they are absolutely brill you take one whenever you have the effects of a migraine starting and wham before u know its gone
Do you drink sodas? Do you have sugar? Then try to cut out that sugar.. DO NOT SEE YOUR DOCTOR! Yes, you heard me! He will just give a medication and that is not healthy whatsoever! You need to eat healthier!
We have treated 15 - 20 yrs cases.

Am I stupid to dance like this?

Yesterday and the day before (Tuesday and Wednesday) I had dress rehearsals for my dance performance. We had one performance this morning and there's one tonight. I had ACL and meniscus repair surgery in September on my left knee, and at rehearsal yesterday, I tripped, fell, and hit my knee (no, NOT while I was dancing) and it started to swell literally right away. My thigh hurt, too, and my mom said she thinks I strained it. In addition to this, I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot. I wore the knee brace the orthopedist gave me for the rest of the rehearsal and for the performance this morning. Was it stupid of me to dance like that (with the knee, thigh, and plantar fasciitis) or was it probably okay?
Answer:
You wont re-tear the ACL just by bumping your knee and if you rehabed the knee properly then dancing should be fine at this point. The plantar fascitis on the other hand is going to be aggravated with dancing for sure because of the lack of footwear supporting your arch. If the knee is swollen right now then dancing will not allow the knee to heal and the swelling will continue. You should decrease your activity until the knee has no pain or swelling.
Oh man, I hate the be the one to tell you this, but you dont have a career in dancing. As time goes on, you are going to be in more and more pain (although the acl should heal the other injuries may not completely heal). You should consult your doctor before trying anything like dancing or sports just to make sure your body can handle it. Good luck.
yes u r. iv'e had an injury like that. lots of rest and stretching will help.
You should really take care of yourself.. knee and foot problems will only get worse with dancing since alot of pressure is put on both your knees and feet...

Am I sick?

My throat hurts, my stomach is killing me. My ankle and left leg has sharp pains. Almost everything is wrong, I have a stuffy nose, and I am ten.
Answer:
Let you parents know how badly you're feeling so they can get you the help you need. When is the last time you had a physical. I don't mean to scare you, but when I was a kid I had lots of "cold" and respiratory problems. We were poor and though my mother did her best, I went to bad doctors. The whole time from about the age of 7 I had asthma that was'nt diagnosed untill I was 19 years old. But If its only a cold or flu drink lots of fluids and sleep as much as possible. It's when your body does its best healing. However, if you keep having problems let someone know. You may be only 10 years old, but it's your body. Its been with you for 10 years, know one will ever know how it feels like you. It's very "grown up" of you to been in touch with how well you are feeling. Many adults just ignore their body's symptoms. Good for you! Aways take care of you health
Yes, you are on the verge of getting sick. I suggest you take some medicine, and sleep it off. But when you wake up, you most likely will seem sicker. And that's normal since you knew it was coming but make sure to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take your medicine. Hope you get better soon.
Yes, kau kene pergi bilik kecemasan!

Am I puking out my medication?

My doctor has started me on Strattera for my ADD. At first I'm started off with taking 40mg for the first 3 days, and then 80mg for the rest. I've gotten use to the medication on the third day but when I took 80mg (two capsles instead of one) for the first time, I felt like I was going to vomit. An hour has past since then and I STILL felt like I needed to vomit but I REALLY don't want to. So I started drinking hot green tea to help my stomache since I started to feel very cold.Bad Idea. I ended up vomiting it all up. I know one of the side effects is vomiting. Especially on an empty stomache but it's very hard for me to tell if I have food in my stomache or not with this Strattera. It seems to numb my sense of hunger.Does this also mean I vomited my medication as well?
Answer:
i wouldn't say u did because u took it an hour before vomiting but next time take it after you eat. . . . . . .
If you took the medication an hour or more before you vomitted, you probably didn't vomit it up. If you don't know whether your stomach is empty or not, why not take it with a meal?

Am i over working out?

well i work out every day at least for 1 hour sometimes i work out for 2! lately i ve been catching lots of colds and i feel weak! could it be that i am working out too much?
Answer:
No, you are probably just coming down with something. Take it easy for a few days until you feel better (and you will), and then starts up again slowly. It is always healthey to work out. If you are really concerned, you should talk to your doc, but you should be fine.

Am i okay?!?!?

about two weeks ago, my little nephew hit the back of my neck with a baby bottle, but hit it hard! and ever since then, i have been feeling like a lump in my throat, and somethimes hard to swallow, and i can feel a noise when i swallow, went to the doc and he dont know what it is. has this ever happend to anyone? and will i be okay?%26gt;!?!?
Answer:
Did you have xrays done? You may have some swelling from the impact causing your throat to constrict. Consult your DR. I'm sure it's ok but you need to put yourself at ease. Good luck.
wear a bra and you will be ok
Sore throat? If the doctor doesn't know, I don't think 70% of the non doctors do.

Am i ok - i was running for the bus..?

my ankle twisted and i fell now it hurts to walk and i cant bend my foot backward. not that i cant move my foot where it's connected to my ankle but i can't curl my foot backward. i'm sure i didn't break it but wat should i do?
Answer:
remember RICE. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. :]
Make an appoitment with your doctor as soon as possible.
i hope no one saw that. tell your mom.
Sounds like a bad sprain but check with your doctor to make sure, and to get advice on what to do to look after yourself.
elevate your foot and take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen for the pain. if swollen soak in cold water and then elevate.frozen peas on an elevated foot also help to alleviate pain.
You could have a chipped or cracked bone. You need to have it X-rayed and let a doctor look at it.
Tam has given you the right answer in my opinion. The sooner you take anti-infammatory and elevate and rest and ice.. the better.the sooner you will recover.
restput ice on ithapppened to me it should clear in like a week

Am I invinsible?

I've never gotten sick, I've never been to the hospital. I've gotten big open wounds before, but the next day or after like 2 hours its completely healed, no scratches or nothing. I've been bitten by a stray cat in my school and it tore the skin, I never told my parents but then I heard about rabies from my friend and I never got my "anti-rabies shots" [I dont know what its really called] its been 4 years since that happend and Im as healthy as uhhh...somthing healthy. I got bitten by a stray dog and my parents found out and they made me go to the doctor, but I was felt fine, nothing out of the ordinary I wasnt dizzy or there was no foam in my mouth. Or this time when I was 9 [Im 13 now] I had this wooden play house in our back yard, and when me and my friend were playing in it, and I tripped and fell and one of the nails from the wooden play house went RIGHT THROUGH my hand but there was no one at home, so I just put a tissue on it and it healed after an hour
Answer:
Keep up with the positive attitude (v.good) but don't think you are invincible it may make you take unnecessary risk that can really mess you up. But I like your positiveness...
No you're not invinsible, just lucky so far. It kind of sounds like you've been watching too much TV.
luck mayb? or mayb you have wolverines(from xmen) ability.
you're not invisible
but you are imaginativeeither you were never really hurt as bad as you thought, or you're just trying to get attentionpeople can heal quickly from things
but if you really did have a nail go right through your hand, it wouldn't have healed in just one hour. it would have taken weeks to completely heal properly, and months to years for the scar to go away
well...yea, your invinsible. lol.
As far as getting bitten by the cat and dog, they didn't have rabies. If they did, you'd be dead by now. I think only one person has ever survived after being bitten by a rabid animal and gotten the virus. And the word is "invincible"
Who said that?
YOU ARE INVINCIBLE ! YES, BUT ALSO SUPER HUMAN WHICH IS VERY RARE INDEED. RINGLING BROTHERS CIRCUS WOULD HIRE YOU NOW . THAT IS AMAZING ! TAKE GOOD CARE.

Am I going deaf?

I got a sudden tough blow to the side of my head, right on my ear. Immediately afterwards I could feel sharp pain and a high pitch noise caused by the blow. The noise and pain went away after about a minute, but I couldn't hear much with the ear that got hit. It was the same feeling you get when you change altitude and pressure in the ear differs from that of outside and yawning, chewing gum, or swallowing usually fixes it. But this time none of that worked and when I tried to fix it by pinching my nose and trying to blow out, I could feel the air escaping through the injured ear. Needless to say, that never happened to me before and now I think there is a small tear or hole in my eardrum. I'm going to see a doctor tomorrow, but in the mean time I'd like to know what you guys think.
Answer:
Plugging your nose and blowing air out your ears is a good way to blow your eardrum so be careful with that. I'm not sure if your going deaf though, you could have just injured your eardrum but its definitely good that your going to the doctor. That's not something you want to mess around with. A friend of mine had a head injury and it tore a hole in her eardrum and she can still hear so its probably nothing to worry about.

Am I going crazy?? I got that funny feeling .?

Okay ... this might seem crazy, but I am going to ask this question anyway as I have exhausted myself in trying to find the answer myself. In the last 3 days I have been feeling this weird "fluttering" or "vibration" in my lower abdomen; right lower area of my pelvic bone. It was happening here and there in the last few days, but today it has been a constant of every 5 seconds. It does not hurt in any way, but just VERY annoying. It does not matter whether I am sitting down, laying down or walking. It's as if I have my cell phone is on vibrate and I keep trying to grab my phone, realizing thtat I don't have my phone on me! If this sounds crazy, let me know. If you know something or experienced it yourself, let me know. Other wise, I am sitting here buzzing away!
Answer:
You are having small spasms. This could be in the intestinal area. If you've been constipated this could be the reason you feel this vibration. If you have start taking a powdered fiber supplement, metamucil, First thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. Place a hot water bottle or heating pad over the area to help stop the spasms for twenty minutes at a time. Do this several times a day. Please let me know if this stops the buzzing.
You know how some people have a nervous tic and their eyelid will twitch? Same thing, only it's happening with a part of your large intestine. Under stress lately?

Am I getting enough sleep?

I live in a little town called Chelmsford, Ontario. And I go to high school in Sudbury Ontario. But my bus leaves at 7:20, and every morning I wake up at 6 just to get ready. Well, right now, it's 11:25 for Eastern Time, I'm usually asleep by 12. Am I getting enough sleep?
Answer:
I'd honestly say you should be getting 8 hrs. sleep. Do you feel like you're tired or need more sleep? You're going to bed a bit late for someone still in school, regardless of your age. Try going to bed a bit earlier %26 see if you feel better. That's the only way you're going to know. School is almost out %26 you should be able to sleep a little later then. But I'd try to go to bed earlier unless there's a good reason you can't.
it depends
if ur an adult itsbout 5-8 hours
if ur a kid maybe 7-9 hours
if you go to sleep right away ,yes you are getting enough rest
It all depends on how you feel. Different people can function on different amounts of sleep. If you don't feel tired, then yes, you are getting enough sleep. But if you do feel tired, which is likely, then you aren't getting enough sleep and should try to be asleep no later than 10:00 - 10:30
Generally you need 7-8 hours of sleep a night to be well rested for school. Now being a college student, and having to wake up early every day for my last year of high school... I know it doesn't always happen. However, sleep is very important for doing well in school. You probably need to get to sleep at least a little bit earlier, try maybe 11 instead of 12 when you can. Or try and sleep on the bus, yes i know this is like virtually impossible, but maybe you could try putting some music on to block out bus noise and then try and catch a nap. Hope this helps.
well you could stand to get a few more hours in lf you can
No... Most people need at least 8 hours of sleep to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you'll also do better in school, etc. cuz you'll be able to concentrate!

Am I doing a good job by going back to home country from U.S?

I am a Student Pilot in U.S. I get a feeling that I should go back to INDIA when I am done with the training and fly for INDIAN Airlines. Is that a good thing from a immigrant's point of view. What would you do if you were me.
Answer:
You probably won't get paid as much in India, but living there will likely be cheaper too. The United States is not for everyone, and if you feel more comfortable in India, feel free to go back.
Go with your Gut. you're not missing anything in the U.S. I'm an american so I should Know. Get out while you can.
If I were you, and I enjoyed America--I'd stay because I'd realize that America offers a way of life (especially for a pilot!) that could be very rewarding, very peaceful, and the people here are pretty nice to you regardless of where your from. ( For the most part!) If I had family in India that missed me and wanted me back-and i was homesick, I'd go back. If I felt like it was a loyalty issue, and I needed to fly with my "home team"--I'd go back. But I'd consider the fact that I've just become a U.S. pilot--of course I'd stay to recieve any kind of proof of that for future . If I were you though, and I was thinking of going back, I'd also remember that America has so many different walks of life and beautiful people, lifestyles and cultures (communities, neighborhoods, and excitement) that I'd at least give it 6 months here and relocate--for a change of scenery, and to see if maybe flight school wasn't the only reason why I'm in America. If I liked it here, but all along my plans were to go back after training , and I always wanted to work for Indian airlines, then I'd go back. If I was worried about not being accepted in America personally because of BEING an immigrant, I'd try to realize that America's recent increased frustrations with "immigrants" are coming from the lower standard of lifestyle that the country south of America is dragging over here--because they don't want to live the American dream..They want to turn Phoenix into Tijuana. Honestly, as an Indian immigrant who liked it here, a good thing would be to stay.

Am i crazy?

I have been having this sharp pain in my arm for a long time now. it's like right in my arm pit and it makes my whole arm numb and my hand tingly..but it is not an all day thing it comes and goes..Any suggestions??
Answer:
This can be caused by an injury or spinal misalignment. It can also be caused by a deficiency of certain vitamins or minerals, leading to peripheral neuropathy. A low amount of B vitamins, Folic Acid, or Magnesium would do this.Going one step higher, have you ever been tested for food allergies?
Yes. See a doctor. Don't let a bunch of people who don't know you, can't see you and have no qualifications tell you what is causing your pain. Let an expert help you, not us.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome?
Brachial Plexopathy?
Long Thoracic Nerve damage?
Rotator cuff injury?
Pinched nerve in your neck?
There are lots of possibilities - so go see a doctor.

Am a first aider but i am stuck on this?

Its to do with me i have no idea what it is.On Friday i was really ill Flu type symptoms, the college told me to go home but id have to catch the bus so they didnt want me to go without someone being their because i looked as pale as anything. Once i came home from college i went in the bath and found lots of spots all over my back chest legs and had 3 on my face. The spots were white in the middle of them and were red around. Now being a first aider i would say it was a allergie by the look of them. But the symptoms i had were very similar to anaphylactic shock but a mild case as i know you can get them mild mod or seviour.I have asthma.Thank you all
Answer:
To be ill and have a rash or "spots" as you describe can indicate a problem which is SYSTEMIC, or in other words, capable of spreading throughout your body, whatever the underlying cause. Definitely see the MD if you continue with these signs/symptoms. Do advise the facility you go to of your status, that they might provide you and themselves with any indicated isolation type procedures. Hope you get better soon.
sounds like measels to me
Well since you said you were in college it could be that one illness that a lot of college students get, I think it's meningitis? I know it starts with a M, you should see a doctor.
it does rather sound like measles, suggest you isolate yourself until the spots are all gone.
It certainly sounds like the measles. I hate to say this but even if you were vaccinated, measles has a tendency to pop up on college campuses because of the large number of people living in close proximity. It has happened before. Get your butt to an ER now. Measles is extremely contagious. Student health services needs to be informed IMMEDIATELY. Keep yourself isolated. Your best bet is to call an ambulance and inform them that you think you might have the measles. They know the precautions to take. The Health Department in your city will be informed. THIS IS SERIOUS. THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR OUTBREAK. Please don't wait. Go NOW. By not going, you are putting other students, faculty and staff at risk. I know you say you were vaccinated. That does not mean you can't and won't get it. GO!!EMT
Either Measels or German Measels can come back again, regardless of you've had the jab or not - I forget which one.
i would say it was an allergic reaction. did you eat anything different or change anythin like soap or cleaner or anything. make sure you tell your doctor and carry bendrol or clartin with you
After looking at several different possibilities, mybest guess would be shingles. They start with flu like symptoms and can include pain. Best to go see a dermatologist.
sounds like an alergy or alergic to something have u changed ur detergent or soap latly

Always feeling tired?

Dear all,I'm always feeling tired my shoulders and body ache my arms feel weak at times. i've been taking multivitamins w/energy for about 2 weeks now and workout out a least 3 times a week and i feel like i get enough sleep but i still feel tired i dont feel stress at work but maybe a little deppressed. Please advise?
Answer:
if you have allergies you may be tired. i know that my allergies right now are so bad, and i am always feeling tired
Stop taking the multivitamins and work out less. U r over doing ur body n ur body telling to slow down..
How much water do you drink? Your sympoms sound like dehydration. Try to drink a half pint of cold water every hour and immediately before bed and see if you feel any different. Ginseng is worth a try as well.
go to your doctor b/c you might be anemici felt that way and went to the doctor, and that's when he told me that i was anemic
I would start with your sleeping area first. When is the last time you flipped your mattress? You may not realize but, you could be rolling around in your sleep all night due to your mattress. I would try flipping it over and turning it around. It'll feel like a new mattress. Also, have you dusted in your room recently? The build up of dust can make your breathing rough throughout the night. Also if you sleep with windows open during pollen season, that too can disrupt your sleep patterns. Finally, if you watch a lot of television before you go to bed can make you feel extremely drowsy. After you turn off the tv and go to bed, your brain is still processing all of the flashing pictures and motions. Turn the tv off early and maybe read a book. WAtching TV for two or more hours before bed is a terrible habit to get into.Try those.
well..causes range from diabetes,depression,thyroid,,, heart,mono,etc....
have a complete blood test.and ekg and chest xray..
something should show up......
maybe cut out the multivitamins and start eating actual fruit. you could need a new mattress also, i know that helped me out immensly! have you tried changing your routine at all? that may help get over the depression.

Alternative to viscoelastic foam mattress?

I have a viscoelastic foam mattress that really helps my fibromyalgia pain. VF is very supportive and responsive to contours because it responds to body heat. It gets really warm in winter, which is good. Problem: It also gets really hot in summer, which is bad. Right about this time of year I switch it for a regular mattress, which is cooler but not so supportive, and I know I can expect to wake up stiff on it, as opposed to limber but steamed on whichever side I slept on, and dazed with heat. I wonder if there's a better way...Does anyone know of a kind of mattress that is very supportive but does not heat up with the sleeper's body heat?
Answer:
Consider talalay latex with a wool fleece pad.
http://www.memoryfoam.com/searchresults.
http://www.foambymail.com/latexmattress.
http://www.mattresspaddirect.com/...Comparison.
http://www.myfoammattress.net/compare/la...
An air mattress or waterbed would support without getting hot. Sleeping in a heated situation is not good for you as its causing dehydration which will increase the pain from Fibromyalgia.Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day.
