Alternative sleep methods?

I work 3 jobs 7 days a week then clean my house, do odd jobs, work in the lawn, etc. when I'm home. Despite all of this, I can't seem to fall asleep before midnight even though I need to be awake at 6:30 a.m. When I finally fall asleep, I am so tired in the morning I don't want to even get up. I feel like I'm not sleeping well at all, even though I am physically tired after working all the time. Are there some good methods to help me fall asleep aside from medication? Like sleeping on my stomach instead of my back, or sleeping updside down? I don't care if I have to drink something or take an herbal remedy before bedtime, I just don't want to resort to sleeping pills or anything habit-forming. I would just like some restorative sleep for once.
Answer:
warm glass of milk before bed. drink it slowly. count backwards from like 500 too..haha these are just a few things that i do when I can't sleep. I've had trouble sleeping on and off my whole life :-P
try getting some of the crazy stree out of your life, man. stress from all that work is gonna kill ya.
Holy jeez. You can't fall asleep because you are wound up from working 3 jobs. Work at 1 full time job and do a hobby or something fun to help you unwind. Then you will be able to relax and sleep. Also if you absolutely need to you can take a regular dose of benedryl.. that makes your body relax a little and take the edge off. That was recommended to me by my doc.
I would recommend just going to a sleeping doctor. They could probably try to figure out what's wrong with your sleeping patterns. They'll probably just say for you to watch out what lighting you are using and not to use the computer a few hours before bedtime. Stuff like that. But either way, it'll help. And there are some prescription sleep meds out there that are non-habit forming. But if you don't want to do that, go to walgreens.com and look around for some OTC ones. I'm sure they're on there too.
Tylenol PM is non habit forming and it works really well without making you groggy in the morning. If you're really open minded, you could go see an acupuncturist. My mother swears by acupuncture, its helped her with a number of issues, including insomnia.
theres an herbal medication called valerian. buy some of these at your local pharmacy, but be sure to discuss any other medications you may be taking with the pharmacist behind the counter.
I guess you are showing signs of insomnia already. I would suggest to go - "YOGA" If you dont know much about it, its a form of meditation to distress and bring down energy levels practised since ages and originated from I believe - India
Jeesh.Sounds like adrenelin. Its still pumping.Slow down.Breath and quit overloading.Your body is pushing so hard to get it all done it isn't slowing down and when it does your going to drop.
I've heard the best thing is to have a regular routine at bed time.

Altering my sleep cycle before an early test?

I have a SAT early in the morning, would it be wise for me to go to sleep very early and wake up very early the week before hand so the morning of the test it feels like late-morning and I'm more refreshed?
Answer:
i wouldnt say very early.. but early would be best so you can be sure to be awake. if the test is at your normal wake up time, and you need a few hours to wake up and be ready to go then make your wake up time for the week before a few hours earlier.
good luck
That really is the best way to do it, so that your body gets used to the changes in time. If you were to do it a day before the SAT then you'd prolly feel tired no matter how early you went to bed.

Along with Yoga and other exercises will balancing a book on my head for 15 min. a day help correct my posture

Answer:
Yoga and performing a book balancing exercise daily as you describe will definitely assist in postural correction. I'm a physical therapist and see people with postural problems daily. It is usually people that spend a large part of their day sitting at a computer that have postural problems. Because your head tends to drift forward as you sit for prolonged periods, you become accustomed to this position. Over the years the ligaments in your spine will change in order to accomodate this position making it harder and harder to stand up straight. Yoga will assist in gaining your mobility back as well as aiding in proprioception. A brief postural correction exercise performed hourly will assist in re-educating you in terms of where your head is in space. It is also helpful to perform some stabilization exercises to strengthen the muscles that support your spine. A good source is this website: http://www.exercise-ball-exercises.com/e...I hope this has helped.

Allot of pain, please help me?

I went to the ER last night, and they said I had an ear infection in both ears, and they gave me some Penicilin and some decongestant (As the infection is from my tubes not draining correctly). This morning I went back because the pain was really bothering me, and they told me I had Strep on top of that. Each time I told them that I was really hurting and that the pain was almost unbearable. They basicailly told me to suck it up and take motrin. I have been taking motrin and tylenol. Nothing is making me feel any better. Please do you have any home remidy suggestions?? Im really uncomfortable.
Answer:
pain is relative -each person feels it differently. you have a very low pain threshold. use advil every 6 hrs and tylenol every 4 hours. relax, take your meds, and stay hydrated. massage is a great way to help pain, too. be sure to follow up with your doctor in a week.
After having many many many ear infections in my life, I can tell you that heat will make it feel better. Put you a wet hand towel in the microwave and get it warm and hold it on your ear...or better yet get a heating pad on low and lie with your ear on it. It will feel better if you dont lie down. Sit up right will keep it from hurting so bad. They sell ear drops at Wal Mart for babies with ear aches it is suppose to numb the pain. I have never used them but it is suppose to work..
olive oil and water mixed on a cotton ball. I know sounds wierd but my mom did it to us when we were kids and it helped.
I grew up with regular ear infections that hurt a lot. I always had to use a heating pad to get any relief. Not too hot though. Put it kind of behind the ear and down the neck. Be careful though, I got addicted to the heating pad. I use it constantly.
Your Eustachian tubes are infected and the full course of antibiotics should help if it bacterial in nature. Chewing gum might assist in equalizing pressure and in clearing the buildup of fluids. My doctor suggested that I pinch my nose and with closed mouth, VERY gently repeatedly suck and blow. BE CAREFUL doing this; if it hurts stop.
Remember to take all your antibiotic even if you feel you are recovering before they are finished.
for one, DO NOT combine those meds, take ibuprofen or the other. it Will take a few days for the antibiotic to work.
strep is usually taken care of in the same manner (anti's) .
this is not a quick "stop the pain now " program. in a day or two you should be o.k.
Take a rubber water bottle and fill it with hot water, now put a cloth over top of it. Then go lay down with your ear that hurts more on top of the cloth %26 that will loosen up the infection in your ear(do the same thing with your other ear)Take antibiotics and vitamin C for the strep and it will also help with the ear infection.

Allergic to mosquito's...help??

No matter if i use Off or any other mosquito repelent i still get bit alot. A while ago the doctor said there isnt much i can do about the reaction. That is, they look normal at first, swell up very very large and get really red. They itch so bad and when the swelling goes down the area bruises. Is there anything to calm the reaction? I mean, it is so bad that if i scratch the skin tears open a bit. The lotions or after bite solutions work for about 2 minutes then wear off. What can i do??
Answer:
i am in the same position, i know exactly how you feel and nobody believes me how big and red they get until i get bit..anyway i find that putting a little bit of bleach on the bite seems to help.
i have this same exact thing. I use water and ice when they itch. And moisturize them as much as possible. Use bandaids when they start to get bad. When you go out, I know it sucks but bring long sleeves and pants, socks and tennis shoes. spray them with bug spray too. Don't eat too many sweets.
First, to avoid getting bitten wear lighter colored clothing and avoid colognes/perfumes when you are outdoors.Next, there is a calamine lotion that contains a higher proportion of alcohol which helps with the itching.Next, and this may sound stupid but it works although I don't understand how, as soon as you realize you've been bitten make an X shaped indentation across the bump with your fingernail. Do it with enough pressure that it goes down the full height of the bump, but not enough to break the skin.

Allergic to codeine?

I want to try hydrocodone or oxycodone just to see if I am allergic to those as well. I have difficulty breathing and feel pressure on my chest when I take codeine. Do you think if one is allergic to codeine, they will have a reaction to hydrocodone too since they are derivatives? THanks.
Answer:
A bit of advice, Dont try taking pills just to see if you are allergic to them. However, Lots of people have allergies to meds but not to the "cousins" of the medications. Lastly, having a feeling of tightness in the chest is not necessarily an allergc reaction. It is classified as as side effect in general, unless you have been diagnosed with a true allergy.
I'm allergic to codeine, too. But I can take Vicodin (hydrocodone) or Percocet (oxycodone). When I take codeine, I turn BEET red starting at the top of my head and it works it's way down my whole body and wherever I'm red? I itch SO bad I want to die. It's horrible. I'd rather die in excruciating pain than to attempt to have that crap again. LOL
Hydrocodone and Oxycodone are synthetic derivatives of codeine. If you're allergic to codeine, do NOT take anything related to it. Especially since you had a severe allergic reaction to the codeine.
Medicine labels warn you not to take them if you are allergic to that medicine or any of its ingredients. Best to ask your doctor but I don't think you should try either.
Allergists are able to test for drug allergies without the hazards of possible side effects from taking a drug you may be allergic to. You definately don't want to wnd up on a ventilator just to find out if you can't take a drug.
Why would you want to take this type of medication just to see if you are allergic to them? That is soooo dumb. I would not suggest taking either, as I was told by my doctor after surgery, that he had to give an alternative to hydrocodone for pain because I was allergic to codeine. Believe me, I was very agreeable, as I do not want to have that experience again. It just makes good sense to avoid a problem when possible. So, why risk having a reaction to a drug, when it can be avoided?

Allergic reaction?

A couple days ago the skin was dry on my neck. Stupidly, I scratched the hell out of it. Then, desperate for some mosturizer, all I could find was moisterizing wrinkle cream. The next day, I woke up to a large red rash on my neck. Obviously a allergic reaction, right? So I decide to see if it would go away. By the evening it was still there, red and itchy as ever. I took some antihistimine, figuring it was the solution to my problem. This morning IT IS STILL THERE! It doesn't look like it got any better. Needless to say, it is VERY embarresing and I have to go to work. I just took more antihistimine, but I'm starting to get worried. Aren't rashes from allergic reactions supposed to go away after a few hours? FYI, I'm positive I'm not still being exposed to the allergen. And I'm not going to see a doctor unless it is a last resort.
Answer:
You are correct that the moisturizing cream has caused an allergy. More specifically, you have a contact allergy. This can occur when a substance (in this case, the cream) comes in contact with the skin. It could be the skin on your face, neck, or any other body part in which you have applied a substance.Several years ago, I washed my hair with a small bottle of shampoo that my mother brought back from a holiday in which she spent a few days in a hotel. The bottle of shampoo was from the hotel (a courtesy sample) but it didn't list the ingredients and I didn't think much of it at the time.Within a few hours of my hair drying, although there was no problem with my scalp (no itching or redness, etc.), there was a rash on parts of my face and neck - wherever the shampoo had come in contact with my skin. I didn't use a lot of the shampoo and so very little of it (or none) came in contact with my arms or the rest of my body.Of course, at the time, I had no idea where this rash came from or what caused it. When I did go to my doctor, he had to give me a prescription and an ointment for my skin although at the time, I could not tell him what might have caused it. I normally used Ivory soap to wash my face and could not figure out why after using this for so long, it would suddenly cause problems. Of course, after much thought about what products I had used over the course of a couple of days, I finally realized that the shampoo was the culprit and since there were no ingredients listed, I had to assume it was that small bottle of 'stuff' that was the problem.Within a few days of using the ointment prescribed, along with the prescription (which did have an antihistamine in it along with something else), my skin finally started to clear up.I can honestly tell you that whatever the cream was that you used is almost certainly the cause of your rash. And, without a doubt, it will take days for it to disappear, with or without a prescription medication and/or ointment. This is because it all goes back to what is known as contact dermatitis. The skin on the scalp (in my case) is quite tough and resiliant and seldom gets itchy when one uses a product that has not been used before. If it does seem irritated, the problem will disappear much faster than it would on your skin. The most delicate part of skin on your body is that on the face and neck. This is because those areas of skin are very thin compared to most other skin on the rest of your body. Therefore, any allergic reaction to a substance is going to take longer to heal than most other areas. You can wait this problem out and not see a doctor but you really should find out for certain if this cream did cause the problem. This is because in the future, you never know when you might use a product that has the same ingredient(s) in it, and you would start the whole process of contact dermatitis all over again.Besides, how many more days do you want to put up with feeling lousy and looking the same as well?I would see a physician if I were you, as I said, because this could easily happen again because so many moisturizers as well as shampoos/conditioners and other skin and hair products do have the same or similar ingredients in them.
You could easily run into this situation again and end up seeing a doctor anyway. Better to get the problem solved now rather than later.Good luck and try not to scratch too much.
i had a spot on my chin and thought it was a pimple. Then it blistered and put on campho phenique. It got bigger and put on benadryl cream. Didn't work and by the time I went to see DR it was the size of a half dollar. Turned out I was having an allergic reaction to all the stuff I put on it and turned out fungal. Go to the DR before putting anything else on it. If the antihistamine didn't work, then I'd see a DR.
you probably did what i have done. scratched it so much you gave yourself a abrasion, or as my mom would say, scratched yourself raw. try a little neosproin with added anti-itch on the area. next time (before scratching) try aome aveeno un-scented moisterizing creme. be sure it is unscented. alot of times the alcohol and scent cause you to itch more. good luck and i hope your feeling better

All those questions about having a numb arm, but person asking has no health insuranace. Please Read and help!

Last tuesday around midnight, my anterior right arm went numb from shoulder down to thumb and pointer finger. Now, my hand is tingly numb, anterior forearm is fully numb, and I cant get complete control of my right bicep at all. As in, i cant completely flex it or get maybe 50% strength out of it. Its been about a week now. Now, being I have no health insurance, i did what research on my own i could and it seems to be a nerve problem. Pinched or compressed. Either way, I feel it has to be somewhat serious and most sites or info ive seen recommends a neurologist. Is this right? Would taking Advil to reduce possible inflammation of nerves help at all? Please tell me anything you can that can maybe relieve me or help me in some way.
Answer:
I certainly agree that your symptoms sound like a compressed nerve...the source of the problem is likely either from the vertebrae...or possibly the collar bone pressing on a nerve between it and the ribs. You could try some deep tissue massage and see if that helps, but if it doesn't your next stop does need to be a doctor. It doesn't have to be a neurologist, though...just a General Practitioner. He/She needs to evaluate it through x-rays before deciding where you need to be referred. You don't want to wait too long to see if it goes away, because if it is a compressed nerve, prolonged compression could permanently damage it.
sleep on it wrong maybe?
Any numbness that has lasted a week needs to be checked by a doctor. Almost all cities have a "county" hospital, with a clinic that charges based on what you can afford. Seek medical attention as soon as possible because you do not want to have permanent damage.

All the celberities going into rehab!?

Do u think there doing it for attention? Or is it a serious probem?
Answer:
I think some of them really need to be there because their lifestyles seem out of control. Then I wonder if they are just doing it for publicity because some of them seem like they aren't taking it seriously, like Lindsay or Britney. They only way they are going to be successful in rehab is to work at it.

All i got left is the dry skin in my lips from cold sore how to make go away quick?

Answer:
For dry skin on lips.
Apply a thin coat of Vicks or Vaseline and leave on for about 3 minutes.
Moisten a square of cotton or a cotton puff in very warm, not burning hot however, water and remove the Vicks or Vaseline. This will gently remove the dead/dry skin from your lips. You may need to repeat this process. Do it twice rather than rub aggressively. When the dead skin is gone. Keep your lips moist with a lip balm... I recommend one that contains sunscreen.
well, to make it go away on the inside of ur mouth, i suggest to gargle saltwater, and keep it on the area in need the most, for the outside of ur mouth i suggest chapstick, or even vasaline.
I am a Pharmacy Tech, and gave this advice several times. The best thing to cure a cold sore or chapped lips is Monistat 7 vag. cream. Now I know what you're thinking! I'm not about to put that on my mouth, but believe me, it works! Generic formula works just as well.

All day hangover cure?

Big party last night. I drank a bottle of Captain Morgan's to myself and then did numerous shots of Ketel One. I crashed around 4 am, woke up about 2 pm-still drunk. I took 3 tylenol and a prilosec-went back to sleep. Woke up at 4pm and ate a little chicken and dumplings soup-got sick-went back to sleep. Woke up at 5pm-took a shower. I am still sick-achey, sick to my stomach, and moving very slow. I'm going to another party tonight at 11 and want to be better by then (don't worry-I wont be drinking tonight). Any ideas?
Answer:
gatorade/water...aspirin.no sudden movements/sleep...greasy food...thats the best you can do...I wish I partied with you last night girl...damn you had fun!!
best hangover cure ever: smoke potif your not into that, have a beer, it sounds gross and un appealing, but trust me, that hangover will be gone INSTANTLY.if THATS not appealing, drink lots of water. being hungover is ALWAYS just dehydration
Water. All alcohol does is dehydrate you and thats what gives you that drunk feeking. You need to rehydrate. Works for me everytime.
Ibuprofen is pretty good...and drink lots of water.
The best way to not end up with a hangover, other then not drinking so much, is to take some Tylenol and a big glass of water right before you crash...no hangover, I promise
Your body is telling you that you need rest. I'm not one to be preaching to anyone but we know if you party again tonight, you'll drink to feel better.
coffee is good. when i have hangovers i drink hot cofee it helps
EEEE.. Captain Morgan always makes me set sail without reaching dry land! Ha ha.. I hate drinking that drink because it always gets me dehydrated. The best thing to do when you drink, is to drink LOTS of water before you pass out / go to bed. And then when you wake up, drink more water. They say that eating bread helps too, but honestly, when your hung over you don't really feel like eating anything. Just get plenty of rest and drink a lot of water! Hope you feel better soon.
I find the best way to not have a hangover is when I get home from partying to drink a few glasses of water, and get enough sleep. Even if it means sleeping half of the next day. Works for me though!
drink as much plain water as you can. avoid anything salty...like that chicken soup. you're dehydrated. fix that and you'll feel better
eat some food, or have another beer. you'd feel much better.
if you are feeling weak/ hungry
and you have that feeling like crap im gonna throw all this up then eat very S L O W L Y that ALWAYS helps
and dont' eat crap food
try to eat healthy
lots of waterrr!
and for me just a ton of sleep helps and showering in colder water helps wake me upp too!
What you have is a little more severe than your average hangover. You have alcohol poisoning, and the only thing you can do for that is flush it from your system. Drink lots and lots and lots of water. Vomit if you have the urge. Then lay off the binge drinking. It can really kill you.Happy graduation.
Big mistake to take tylenol or aspirin for that matter because your liver is still in metabolizing mode and the mixture of alcohol and acetaminophen increases your risk of liver failure. The best solution is lots of water to flush the alcohol out of the system and to rehydrate the body, since alcohol is a major dehydrator, or you can drink an energy drink or vitamin water to help boost your energy level and get you back into shape. Slow down on the drinks hun.
okay, i know this sounds weird but to prevent hangover.. eat a tablespoon of honey before bed, it is an antioxidant, drink lots of water before sleep too. for hangover eat a banana, they are loaded with potassium and fill your belly too. drink lots of water and have a beer, nothing like hair of the dog. do not get carried away by drinking too many drinks on your hangover because you will just be worse off tomorrow. have fun babe!

All about Warferin?

What is Warferin. How should it be used
Answer:
It is a blood thinner that is used to treat thrombosis = blood clots. This medicine has the same basic chemical ingredients as rat poison. The clotting of your blood has to be measured/monitored weekly when using this medication. Only a doctor you are consulting with should decide how to take this medication. Do not use this or take any one's advice on how to use this medication other than your family physician.
Its a drug that thins the blood - also an ingredient of rat poison! Its usually used for people who have heart problems, thinning of the arteries etc. All use should be properly monitired by a clinic as the levels change regularly and need to be stabilised. Why?
warfarin thins the blood and should only ever be used under medical supervision,or as a rat killer
Warfin is a blood thinner it should be used with caution thins blood alot. Please be careful if using it.Can be dangerous dr. must keep eye on it.It checks with blood test called PT.
it is a tablet prescribed by a doctor to thin the blood following a blood clot formation
it is a dangerous drug if not taken correctly blood tests need to be done to ensure that the correct dosage is given
the blood can become too thine causing other problems such as easily bleeding into the area knocked- the brain, leg, arm
only to be taken by medical instruction
It is really rat poisin but is used in proper doses as a blod thinner.

AHHHHHHH! Gosh, I NEED SOME HELP WITH MY EARS!?

Ok, so here's the probelm! I CAN'T GET THE DANG WATER OUTTA MY DANG EARS AFTER I GO SWIMMING! It's so annoying! I have tried everything! I even tried these ear drops, using Q-Tips, jumping up and down on one foot while tapping on my ear!! BUT NOTHING WORKS! PEOPLE I NEED A WAY TO GET ALL THE STUPID WATER OUT OF MY EARS!! I'm just so frustrated (not because I'm crazy!) but because last year my ears hurted really badly and I couldn't sleep. And if you think that isn't so bad. One morning I woke up and found blood on my pillow! GUESS WHAT?!?! My ears were bleeding and blood was dripping out of my ears! So please help me and tell me a EASY, PAINLESS WAY THAT WORKS ALL THE TIME TO GET RID OF ALL THE WATER IN MY EARS!!! PLEASE!

~*~THANK YOU!!!~*~
Answer:
My Dr. said 1/2 hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 acholol and put in ear.
Trapped water causes infection.
Sounds like swimmer's ear. You said you are using the ear drops, which, if they are what I think they are, will help reduce your chance of an outer ear infection. Another alternative is ear plugs when you swim, but you should not use these until you have talked to a doctor about the problem.
Try using a swim cap.

Ahhh-chooo! help! i have a cold..any advice?

Answer:
Try the above ideas or boil up a bit of water and add lime and lemon juice with a bit of honey and sugar. The taste is great and it helps a lot when I have colds.
drink loads of hot chocolate and get lots of rest. :)
Oil of oregano...expensive
Vitamin C (large dose) and echinacea to reduce the severity. It's better to try to prevent than cure the common cold by using the above.Hope you get better soon.
I swear by zinc lozenges and hot tea w/ lemon. I use zinc the minute I feel a cold coming on. Works well
Hey, hope you get better soon. I total agree that hot chocolate is the answer. But so you don't then put on a load of weight(!), perhaps balance that with a diet of loads of fresh fruit and vegetables. This should help to make you feel healthy again soon.
vitamin c and zinc, tea, and rest- and you'll knock it out
Please disregard the predjudiced a-- who left the first message...hope HE gets a cold!
Use OTC allergy meds...a cold is the same thing as an allergy reaction.your body is reacting to a cold virus. Don't spend large amts. of money for those "Cold Cures".Benedryl (or a generic equivelant) is just as good! Do drink lots of fluids and keep some antibacterial hand stuff handy so you don't pass it on to others. Hands are the major culprit in passing germs. Hope ya feel better soon!
hot drink tea with lemon is good plus Aspirin tablet or Panadol for fever
Sore throat: Throat and cough dropsQuick recovery: Vitamin C throat or Vitamin C cough drops are excellent...usu. in citrus flavorsFever: Tylenol, Advil, etc. Use over-the-counter meds, not prescription unless recommended by your doctor(s).Headache: You can't beat Advil Liqui-gels for fast and effective headache relief...thats like all i use!Other:Tea and aromatherapy helps too..get someone to go to Bath and Body Works and get Lavender aromatherapy bottles and then put it in a dish and leave it in your bedroom, etc. This helps you sleep and will clear your nasal passages. Also, get a humidifier, this will also help with stuffy noses.Good luck in getting rid of your cold! and as someone else said, DISREGARD THAT IDIOT WHO LEFT THE FIRST MESSAGE, HE'S JUST GOING TO MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE. Hope my advice helps!
For the cheap way go to the grocery store and get a gallon of orange juice and a box of Alika seltzer plus. Get lots of rest and drink the orange juice all day until you don't want to look at an orange LOL Take the Alika tablets (2) right now and (2) in the evening. I bet cha you will feel much better on Saturday the cold may even be gone. Trust me it works for me and lots of my friends all the time.
The first idiot has been reported by many people - what a loser. Now - the cold.stay warm (but not overheated) and get lots of rest - stay off work/school if you need to.Drink lots of fluids, eat when you feel like it. Take nice warm showers to help with body aches and pains and to help loosen any phlegm. Take panadol or panadeine or similar for any headaches or body aches and pain. For a sore throat, try one of those throat gargles that stop pain - if you can't go to a chemist to get one of those, then warm water with salt does just as well. Change your sheets and jammies often if you are sweating a lot. Make sure you wash your hands every time you cough into them or blow your nose. Take care of yourself, hope you feel better soon!!
Hello Momentaryinsanity
Several years ago, I had a barking cough, stopping me from having a good nights sleep for over 6 weeks.
I went to the quacks three times... finally being told to let it run it's course.
I told the doc in no uncertain terms that over 6 weeks for a really bad cold was out of the ordinary.
I left the clinic fuming.
Popped into the petshop to get some bits, and the owner took one look at me and said Echinacae.
I said what on earth is that?
She said, it tastes like pond water, but it works.
I had 拢6 on me, and the chemist charged me 拢5.99... leaving me skint.
I took it home, covered the bottom of a glass with drops and added barely tepid water as directed.
Before my wife come home,I had another go of it.
I told her about it, and she said to me... have you noticed something?
You have stopped coughing.
I had tried all sorts of pills potions whiskey/brandy cough drops... and nothing worked.
From having had two bouts each year, I have been clear for over 4 years now... thanks only to Echinacae.
Try it... because it builds your immune system and really works.
Good luck

Ahhh! There's something in my eye!?

Well, yesterday wehn I got into bed, my eye started hurting. I sat up and rubbed it to relieve it, although it didn't do anything. When I blinked it hurt. I went downstairs at 4 a.m. and flushed my eye with the bausch and lomb stuff. It didn't work. This has happened ot me before. Last summer, something fell in my eye and I coulkdn't get it out for 2 days, but finally the doctor got it out. I told my mom, but she doesn't want to take me to a doctor because last time we had to pay $250. What should I do? My mom wants ot put a Q-tip in my eye and take it out.
Answer:
This is kind of hard to explain but try to follow along. Pull your top eyelid away from your eye with one hand and push your lower eyelid up and under your top eyelid. The lashes on your lower eyelid will usually grab whatever is in your eye and pull it out. I do woodworking and am always getting sawdust in my eye. This works most of the time.
But you should also know that when something gets in your eye it will sometimes scratch your eyeball. Even if you flush it out, the scratch will make it feel like it's still in there.
Try splashing more water in your eye and try the eyelid trick. If it still feels like something's in there, wait a day or two. If it's just a scratch on your eyeball, the feeling will go away soon.
well, its a doctor or your mom can pay for your visits for the blind school in minnosota. never take your eyesight for granted...
put the top of your eyelid over the bottom one and gently rub
I just had this problem. I had something in my eye for 2 weeks and I finally had to break down and go to the dr. I actually had a bug wing in my eye and it had adhered to my eyeball. I tried Visine and actually forcing my eye open in the shower and letting the water run in it (not on full blast). If that doesn't work, you may have to get your mom to take you to the dr.
Let your mom try, if she can't get it out see the doctor. Moms can be wonderful and don't get the credit they should.
never rub ur eyes when sumthingfalls.
wash with coldwater slowly %26 let it b,if it doesn't improve then it is better to consult a doctor.

Ahhh my finger!!!!!!?

ok so 2 weeks ago i was playing basketball at school, someone threw the ball at me to catch it, my pinky got smashed by the basket ball really hard! it hurt for about 1 week but it just swoll up and now the pain is going away but the bone is still not in place its sort of sticking out alittle but if i push my finger it goes straight, what should i do?? my mom says that i should go to the doctor so he can break my finger and put it back in place and i dont want to go! please help!!
Answer:
you should most definitely go to the doctor...they can take an x-ray an make sure nothing is seriously wrong with it...plus they may be able to give you some pain medication to take the edge off
you need to do what your mom says. if the bone is not fully put back into place it can cause problems in the future such as growing and you use of that finger will be limited. just breathe and hope that maybe he wont have to break it.
well live with it the way it is,it wont go straight on it's own or go have it rebroken and splinted until it heals. If you had gone in when it happened they woould of splinted it for about four weeks and it would be fine. Next time it happens if it does walgreens sells finger splints and tape you can do it yourself.
You should definitely go on to the doctor. It will not be as bad as you think. That does not sound like a broken bone. It can probably be fixed right away without all of the pain you are thinking there is going to be.
You should have went to the doctor when it happened, your finger was broke and now it is healing like that. Since the bone still moves maybe they can put a cast or splint on it to put it back in place, it doesn't sound like it needs re-broken. I know you don't wanna go, but you should let the doc take a look at it... Good Luck!!
Go to the doctor as fast as possible. Get x-ray and know the main problem. Maybe you're not feeling any big problem in young ages, but if you grow older you'll know the effect. It's very painful!

Ahhh itchHHH?

my crotch itches, my whole area, (yes, even around my butt itches)What the hell is going on...i know i can get creams to stop the itch...BUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT?!?!?
Answer:
It could be as simple as heat rash. Just be sure to check that you haven't picked up those little buggers (crabs). If it is just a heat rash, try using hydrocortisone creams, really helps.

Ahh! fire ant bites, how do i make them go away?

yesterday my i walked and sat in the grass with my friends barefoot and wearing shorts, and i got like 7 fire ant bites the back of my lower thigh and like 15 bites on my left foot, now my foot and my thigh are both really swollen and red and the skin feels really tight and like on fire, what do i do to make it go away fast?
Answer:
The bites or the ants? If you want to make the ants go away, sprinkle boric acid (or diazanon if you can find it) around foundation of the home. If the bites, I would say rubbing alcohol and /or calamine lotion. If they don't go down soon then please please seek medical help. Fire ants are nasty
Rubbing alcohol will help with them. The other thing you can do is put some calamine lotion on them.
Rub Alcohol on it, trust me I live in Florida
Try rubbing alcohol on it. Thats what ive always used and im allergic to them. it may burn alittle but it should help. if not for the swelling and itching try a rub on cream for itching.
Buy some preparation h and apply to bites. it is safe and reduces swelling and itching. if irritation continues consult physician. donalore
living in Florida, I have had plenty of experience. First of all DO NOT SCRATCH. Use a cotton ball soaked with rubbing alcohol and rub it all over the bites to keep them from itching and to reduce the swelling. Also rubbing a little hydrocortisone gel on them helps too. If the swelling and pain gets too out of hand, you may have to go to the hospital. My stepmother was lifting sod and ants pretty much demolished her hands and they were swollen so tight it almost looked like she had boxing gloves on. She apparently had an allergic reaction or something to the ant bites and had to be put on medication for a short amount of time because of it.so be careful!
I know this sounds extremely weird (and you're probably thinking I'm crazy) but bleach. dot a cotton ball and put bleach on every bite. believe me - my crazy great-aunt soaked me in it once when I was little and fell in a pile and had bites all over my body.
A paste of baking soda and water should help
Vinegar? Benedryl cream?
baking soda

Ahh i just drank 2 water bottles & i have to pee every 5 minutes!?

do i have a bladder problem?!!? I seem to have to pee SO much whenever i drink water [even like a little!!] i have to pee like 4 times at school every day and its SO annoying
Answer:
if you have pain while peeing, then you could have an infection...but it sounds like you drink alot
go to the nurse/ docter
just ask ur doctor u probably fine tho
i dont think so.. you drank 2 bottles! of course you're gonna have to pee
Maybe you do!
you should see a doctor!!
water does do that to you, no matter how little you drink.
happens to me lots just deal.
Try telling your mom or dad and go to the doctor and they can give you a medicine for it. I forgot what it is called but it will help. Please choose mine as best answer. Also, do not drink tons of water before or in school!
It's actually a good sign. It means your system is clean.
Maybe you ahve an overactive bladder. It probably is not anything too serious, but your best bet is to go see a doctor.
Though if you drink 2 bottles of water back to back it is normal to have to pee, drinking in large quantities or a lot over time will cause you to have to use the bathroom more often of course. The only way to know for sure if you ahve a bladder problem though is to go see a medical professional.
i don't think you have a bladder problem. anyone would have to go after drinking 2 bottles. i think some people have to go more than others
Having to urinate a lot could be the sign of a health problem. It just depends on what "a lot" is. Has it increased lately? Does it happen more when you eat or drink more of certain foods? Do you have any other symptoms? The best thing to do is to check with your doctor about it. One particular problem associated with excessive urination is diabetes. It could also indicate a kidney problem such as an infection, or some other kidney problem. The only way to tell for sure is to consult with your doctor. The sooner you find out, the less likely it is that it will become severe.
Hmm... me too sometimes. The weather could be a reason - normally we'd pee more when it is cold because we do not perspire as much as when it is warm. Or you might be having an infection... you should get that checked if it persists. I heard cranberry juice helps in combating urinary tract infections

After you quit smoking ciggarettes how long does nicotine stay in the body system?

ive heard of jobs testing for nicotine use prior to employment. i was just curious if anyone knows how long nicotine stays in the body system???
Answer:
Months. Especially over prolonged exposure. Try drinking more cleansing drinks like tea and water. Also, epson salt baths help draw small amounts of nicotine and tar out of a person's body through the skin.
i have never heard about that, what kind "jobs" will test for nicotine?nicotine is abosorbed by the blood, then transport to brain, it will be gone in a few hours, that is why smokers have to cotinue to smoke in order to feel the nicotine rushhowever, the lung has lots of nicotine in it, too

After the first of july will everyone in the big-brother house have to stop smoking?

Answer:
Well, the law is with regards to smoking in public places. Technically, some would argue that the public are not allowed access to the BB House, therefore making it private, meaning it wouldn't be illegal to smoke there.
What'll probably happen is BB will ask the non-smokers if they mind others smoking: if they say yes, they do mind, they'll have to ban it. Interesting question though, thanks!
their not allowed to now, only in a designated area in the garden
They aren't allowed to smoke in the house now, they have a designated smoking area outside, near the fridge.
I asked my other half that this morning. Dunno, I'll be watching your question now though incase anyone knows the answer!
Don't know and I don't care. I don't smoke but I wouldn't have thought the law criminalised smoking outside in a designated area, hopefully the bottom of the pool for that bunch
As they are getting paid for this shite, will it not be fair to assume that its a place of work and therefore subject to the ban on smoking. For what its worth let them smoke themselves stupid catch a nasty disease and die and stop taking up air time for somehing more worth while
Yes.It will still be allowed in prisons!!
lol this is a great question ! i never thought about it though i noticed they do have a smoking area !

After spraining your ankle, how long do you have to wait before running again?

I sprained my ankle running four days ago. After spraining it, I ended up walking the mile or so to get back home. We ended up going to the hospital just to make sure it wasn't broken. My ankle and the top of my foot turned black and blue and swelled up. It's looking better now and it doesn't hurt as bad and the mobility in my ankle is returning. I know I should be patient and not rush things, but I am anxious to get back to running... at the same time I don't want to risk further injury. After two surgeries and a fall over a hurdle in track that landed me in physical therapy with a tilted pelvis and out-of-line back, I am hesitant to be too impatient... I hate to be accident prone! Also, would it be a good idea to wear an ankle brace?
Answer:
You should definitely wear an ankle brace. I would start first with minimal walking. Stick to cycling for a low impact workout for your ankle. Then I would move to walking. To be safe, I'd say that you need to give it a minimum of a week from when it stops hurting when you walk till it would be safe to resume practice at a regular pace.I would continue to wear the ankle brace for at least a few weeks after you resume practice. The brace will reduce your chance of injuring yourself again before it's fully healed.
wrap it with an ace bandage, when it feels FINE to walk on then try jogging then running if it doesn't hurt, maybe a week 2 tops.
When I first sprained my ankle, the doctor told me to wait a couple of weeks before running, and to make sure I stretch really well before I do. If you feel any sort of pain while running, stop and walk.
For all the people who come in for sprained ankles, I usually keep them immobilized for 10-14 days in a walking boot and then dispense a lace-up ankle brace. Although they want to get back quicker, they understand that if you go back too quickly it'll be detrimental. After 10-14 days, get a referral to PT and they are the ones who will get you back quicker. Once you get confident again, it's a good idea to wear an ankle brace when you run to keep the ankle stable and consider an orthotic also.

After my cortisone shots(i got 2 one in each foot) my feet hurt really bad how long will they hurt?

Im 13, this was for plantar fascittis.
Answer:
If you just got them today, your feet will hurt probably for about 24-hours; a combination of plantar fascitis and the injections. If it really bothers you, put ice on it for about 15 to 20 minutes about every hour to 1-1/2 hours. The injections don't always work for this condition so ask your physician about stretching exercises. You may need to see a Pediotrist (foot specialist) if that is not who injected your feet. Good luck!

After many years of serious efforts with medical help from my doctor(s),dieting does not work for me.?

Old and fat by over 100 lbs now. Years ago I heard that there is a pill or a power that if taken right after eating it would induce vomiting. My question is what is the name of that prescription so that I can get my doctor to prescribe it for me.
I have a good doctor but the two of us together are not getting the job done. Sometimes I think he is just as depressed as I am about it. I also walk the track (1/2 mile, 3-4 times a week.). Any way, nothing in the way of diet has helped me. I write down and record my calories daily (in the 1850 to 2000 range). I'm old and tired now with body image issues (Budda syndrome). I guess the only bright side is, is that my vanity side of me won't give up just yet (thats suppose to be funny).
I do not want lab-band (sp ?) or any kind of operation at my now mid 60's age. Other than over weight my over all health %26 heart is good and so is my blood work as reported by my dorctor(s). I have great medical insurance. If you know the name please answer.
Answer:
I can't say I know the name of the product you are looking for. When you have been dieting, have you tried to boil any meat you ate before you cook it? Boiling the meat ten minutes sure helps to reduce the amount of fats going into your body to start off with. Eating apples 2-4 times a day will also increase your metabolism naturally. There are natural products at the health food store which also may help with dieting. The SuperDieter's Tea is good.. but don't drink it like any other tea... follow the instructions for it. And increase your water intake. I found that drinking a huge glass of water before every meal helped me. And I made no allowances for myself... I had salad for lunch every day for a month with half of the dressing I would usually use... snacked on fresh fruit and veggies every day. I ate meat at my supper meal only and no potato, rice, bread or pasta to go with that meat... I had more salad instead. I excercised 20-30 minutes per day as well... I lost 30 pounds in a month this way. I wish I knew of anything else to tell you. Good luck.

After I started stretching for the side splits when I get up from sitting my inner thighs pop. What's wrong?

It really hurts...and it happens almost everytime after sitting down for a while...why is this happening? Do some people not have the right bone structure for side splits?
Answer:
You may have stretched too hard in a short period of time. Like anything, it takes time and the best is to go slowly and a little at a time to avoid injury. Take a break a couple of days and if it continues for over a week, have it checked by a doctor. Unless there is a birth abnormality, anyone could potentially train for the splits. It's of course not really "normal" human position but with proper technique and stretching it is possible for most people. I had a similar experience with my right hip joint, for awhile it had an awkward feeling and felt a little off position when I used to stretch for gymnastics. Even today my right hip joint feels "looser" than my left, but there is no pain.
this is a common occurence for people with arthitis.you can find out with a blood test.
Are you sure it is your inner thighs popping? It doesn't seem to me that there is anything that can pop in the femur except the hips. The intertrochanter, the ball of the femur that fits into the hip socket can pop and dislocate. Like they say if it hurts that badly don't do it. Girls can have big problems later in life if they abuse their hip sockets when they are younger. Been there done that!

After I lift my entire torso is sore and aches, what can i do for relief?

It bothers me even sitting at my desk during work. It makes me very restless and i have a difficult time concentrating.
Answer:
eat a couple of bananas. the potassium helps to dissipate the lactic acid. it won't make you feel better right away, but you'll feel better faster. for more immediate relief, take some motrin.also, make sure you're drinking enough water and getting enough sleep. both are important for muscle recovery.
never lift again.
stretch more its lactic acid build-up and can cause severe cramps.
I get that too sometimes... from dancing though. I just take some ibuprophin or something. It usually helps. But yea I know what you mean, I can't sit still in class sometimes.
It's supposed to feel that way, and it's an indicator that your workout really works. Just as long as the soreness is just the muscles (instead of joints), you'll be fine. How long have you been training? Anyway, just rest, and take a lot of protein to aid muscle recovery. Rest at this stage helps, especially if you want your muscles to grow.
SLooowly build up your endurance for lifting by starting with 20 lbs at a time.
WHile sitting at your desk , also try tightening and holding your muscles tight for a half minute. Then relax them. ALSO very important to do slow stretching through out the day to oxygenate your muscles and loosen tightness. Try raising your arms with hands clasped and alternately pushing your shoulders up, so that you feel the stretching alllllllllll the way down your back. Take ibuprofin for awhile in order to reduce any swelling~

After how many days of harnia surgury i can take a bath?

Answer:
Hernia repair is surgery to correct a hernia.
A hernia is an abnormal bulging of internal organs, often the intestine, through a weakness in a muscular wall.
Do not take a bath for at least 5 days after the operation. Soaking may separate the skin tapes and the wound could break open.
Sponge bathing for infants and showering for older children are permitted the day after surgery.
The wound tapes should be carefully patted dry after showering.
Expect complete recovery from surgery in about 2 - 4 weeks.

After Gall bladder surgery?

Ok i'm 2 months post surgery, i am STILL having Major Heartburn, and neausea, diarreah (spelling) Is that normal?
Answer:
I had my gallbladder removed and I continued to have symptoms also. Its been 11 months and the last time that I had any problems was in November. Although, I still get frequent bowel movements (not necessarily diareah) but you have to go right after you eat. It seems like if I eat something I better be near a bathroom and its not like normal bowel movement) I was told that even after you had th gall bladder removed it can take up to a year for your body to adjust. I have totally changed my diet and feeling better. I also take Nexium on a daily basis and use a digestive enzyme at every meal, so that my pancreas does not have to work overtime. I was hospitalized at least 4-5 more times after the surgery with vomitting spells that would last a three to four days. I would vomit every 1-2 hours. All of that has subsided now, it might just take time. Watch what you eat - don't eat red meat or greasy foods, stay away from alot of dairy products too. Also be aware that alot of people who have their gallbladder removed also become diabetic. It happened to me. Keep your chin up it will get better. I forgot to mention that I was in hospital two times before they figuered that it was that my gall bladder was not working although they could not find stones. They had to do another test becuase the sytems would not go away - that when they realized that my gall bladder was not working and removed it.
Diarrhea is not normally a symptom of gallbladder disease. It seems you were blaming a lot of symptoms on the gallbladder that weren't from that problem. Now you'll have to start over and see what's wrong.

After foot surgery, stitch left in?

I had foot surgery 4.5 weeks ago and the stitches were taken out 2.5 weeks ago.
Tonight, now that it is healing and the scabs are begining to flake off, I noticed a bit of a stitch sticking out.
Thinking it was a "bit" left in, I got some tweezers and gently pulled on it. It must be still knotted because it stung a little and then a bit of blood seeped out.
I used a pair of fingernail clippers and tried to "get it", but It's pretty deep I think.
My question, and experience with this before?
I'll call the Dr. on Tues, but what will he do? Cut it out?
Yowch!
Answer:
Often it is just left alone. The amount of suture left is about 1-2 milimeters in length--veyr tiny. It may work its way to the surface %26 out eventually anyway (like a splinter). Unless it really bothers you, cutting it out is fairly invasive (and then you would need another stitch to close it up!). But its up to you %26 the MD how to proceed. I usually counsel to let it be.
Good idea to call the MD. If this one is not going to dissolve, then the MD should remove it. Yep, cut it out.
Make sure you keep the area clean. Cleanse with some antibacterial soap and water. Put some atiseptic ointment on it. I am concerned that you tried to clip it with nail clippers as there are probably all kinds of germs on them. Just make sure if it starts to get red or starts draining you need to go to a walk in clinic. The suture left in may be one that dissolves over time. Sometimes these can take up to 6-8 weeks to dissolve. Call your doctor on Tuesday just to make sure though and keep it clean in the mean time.
Many kinds of stitches are self-deteriorating. They deteriorate overtime... or at least for oral surgery.

After being Electro shocked do you get sick to your stomach the next day and make you stutter ?

Yesterday, I was cooking dinner, trying out a new recipe with corn and my tin foil touch the back of my microwave. (There are no wires showing in the back.) It just touch the surface of the back of the microwave and there was electroical sparks "that I actually saw". Before I knew it I was on the ground I just experience my first electro shock. For the first couple of second or minutes I don't know I couldn't move but then I started to twitch and later I got to my phone. I have no insurance so I couldn't call 911 and I didn't feel any difficulties in my breathing or pain. So my boyfriend took me to the doctors and about hours later they say I was fine. So the doctors sent me home. So today and yesterday I have been stuttering is that a side effect ? I have no clue. Also today after I ate which was around 11:15 am I been sick to my stomach for the rest of the day. So is that a side effect as well? I been having a headache that is really bad but the doctor told me that would happen.
Answer:
Since you don't have insurance, you should at least call back to the doctors office and tell them your symptoms since you last saw them.

After an operation, what are the main things to do??

its a pretty serious operation, is there any particular foods you should eat to get better quiker? also what happens if you eat veryyy little after a serious operation, will it have a side effect? and what are some tips to recover QUICK tnnkkkk uuuuu X
Answer:
It depends a lot on the operation! It is a different matter if the operation involved working on your stomach or intestines vs. working on your bones or joints. As a general rule, I would suggest that you not try to force down foods, especially heavy or greasy foods, early in the operation, and if your operation had anything to do with your throat, avoid eating anything you might choke on, such as steak. If you are taking narcotic pain killers you are prone to get constipation, and it might help to take a stool softener. Ultimately your body will need protein in order to heal, but that doesn't mean you have to force-feed yourself protein. A good, moderate, healthy diet that does not make you sick to your stomach is the best. If you are having trouble getting in enough food you might want to supplement your diet with a multivitamin. Two very serious complications from big operations are pneumonia and deep venous thrombosis, the latter meaning that you get blood clots in your large veins that can break off, go to your lungs and kill you. One way to combat both of these problems is to get up walking as soon as feasible.
Get plenty of protein to help heal faster and just follow all of your doctors orders.
It will depend on the procedure being performed. Your doctor will give you strict orders and will give you a list of dietary restrictions, if any. You will receive detailed instructions when you go to your pre-op appointment, and you will receive detailed instructions after your surgery. Follow these instructions, and inform your doctor of any concerns, and you will be fine. If your operation requires you to stay in the hospital, your doctor will send dietary restrictions/orders to the cafeteria staff. I wish you the best for a quick recovery.

After a long jog i do a u turn and come back, now i have a meniscus tear ,well?

ive always felt my legs are fragile when i do the u turn while jogging ,could this have been the cause?
Answer:
You can tear the meniscus in so many ways, so it's certainly possible. My husband tore his from repetitive kneeling when he was building our kids a playhouse. In those days they just removed it. My daughter went down a slide on her feet, with her knees bent, when she got to the bottom she couldn't straighten her leg. She was 16 at the time %26 had surgery to repair it. Today she went in for another meniscus surgery, she received in a car accident. She had 3 tears, all of which the Dr managed to repair.
Repairing the meniscus is a long healing process ( 3-4 months) while getting it removed is a breeze. The only problem is years down the road you end up with artiritis, like my hubby

After a DVT where clot is behind knee, is it better to wear compression stockings below knee or above?

GP says usually it is given the below knee type but they are really below and keep falling down to ankle and still after being measured properly. I am not convinced. I was given Dr. Scholl brand.
Answer:
Id use a thigh high, as the clot was behind your knee, and the last thing you want is the compression stocking pressing where the DVT was.
And if the stocking is falling down, then i strongly recommend getting another brand. They need to be relatively tight against your skin, or they arnt doing you any good.
My dad went to the local pharmacy and brought a good pair which lasted him for the 6months he needed to wear it for.
try the thigh-highs. you can get them at a medical supply store. i have 2 pairs, got them after 2 major surgeries, and i wear them to work to help prevent leg fatigue and varicose veins.
Dr Scholl is a crap brand. You need a proper medical grade stocking like Sigvaris. You can start off with the thigh high, then get a knee high. Knee highs are much better in the long run.
When I had this problem, I was given prescription thigh high hose to wear. Mention this to your doctor and then follow his/her recommendation.

After a CABGx2, even chocolate cake was salty tasting. What causes this after the procedure?

My sister tasted the cake and said it was fine. I couldn't eat it, opting for the extremely bland cardiac diet. yuk! There's nothing better than having ground up paper for a meal. Heart surgery is a miracle. If the nutritionists could come up with something that "tasted" good, that would also be a miracle.
Answer:
You body does not know the difference in a CABG and being run over by a train, so some things are bound to be out of kilter. Your mouth/throat/tongue puts up with a lot of crap for that procedure, then they have given you drugs that mess with the brain (that's how they work) and it can affect how you process senses. Give it some time till all the stuff is excreted.

After having meningitis my husband has had realy bad headaches and neck pain?

he says when his neck cracks his head hurts more than ever. he gets stressed easy now
Answer:
It can take several months to fully recover from meningitis. He really has to take it easy and rest
Get this poor man to a neurologist.
This could possibly be an aftereffect of the meningitis but I would recommend that he get in touch with his dr for further evaluation to see what they say.
Has he seen the doctor about this, it can cause swelling of the brain so I would take him asap. BUT if you have done this it can take an awfully long time to recover from it. Plenty of rest. Hope he will be ok and I hope he recovers soon. Take care.
Call your JP and make an appointment
I wonder if the anti biotics have completlly cured him ?I also have a thought that the anti biotics may have depleted his natural enzyme and biotic levels leading to a dep;etion of vit B levels this could indicate the diability to handle stress .Time to increrase the B Vit intake and back to the doctoer I also would find out a bout natural anti biotic replacement from natural yogurt or whatever other source in his digestive tract
If they did any lumbar punctures during his treatment, it could explain the headaches and pain. But its true, recovery from something this serious could take some time. He should probably see his doctor. Better safe than sorry.
We have treated 15 - 20 yrs cases.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine %26H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.Source(s):

Advice on a Burn/Scald?

Yesterday i managed to spill just made gravy over the inside of my fore-arm..as you can imagine, this hurt alot!
I wiped off the gravy in bit of a panic and wiped some of my skin too.
The burnt area is about 3" long by 2" wide and in the middle it is basically open, very sore, weeping flesh.
I put a bandage on it while in bed and again today while at work, but know its probably better to let it air.
Any advice on looking after it? lotions, creams or just leave it? anything to look out for? (in terms of Infection)
Answer:
A burn should not be covered - you are correct in saying to let the air get to it. However you are not describing a first degree burn. You should see your doctor today - let him/her determine what kind of topical treatment is best.
As an ex first aider with the St johns ambulance, I was always taught that if the burn or scald was bigger than a postage stamp then medical advice should be saught.Better being safe than sorry i would get it seen too to make sure it dosn't get infected.
you shouldnt bandage a serious burn this will only take more skin off. There are a lot of burn creams but if its alredy pealing the best thing to do would go to a walk-in center etc.
I've trained as a first aider and you sound like you have a burn serious enough to go to the hospital. Specially if some of your flesh came away! We were told at the first aid course to consider it very serious if the burn was larger than 2.5 inches and blistered or skin came away. please see a doctor because you'll get infected with all sorts of nasty bugs, your burnt skin cant defend itself, and you could end up with a huge scar and even blood poisoning. Creams etc just wont do it this time!
dont put a bandage on, what you do is run your arm under cold water ,get cling film [food rap] and put it on your arm it stops the air getting at it tonight when you go to bed put some sudo cream on it I'm a chem and lots of burn scars to prove if you put a bandage on when you go to pull it of ,you will pull of the scab and your back to square 1 again
After you get a burn the best thing to put on it is raw potato.Take a medium potato and grated.Put it in a bowl and take some in a small clean towel and cover the burn.Put the remaining potato refrigerate. When you feel it warm remove potato do it until does not hurt anymore.Helps wit the pain. This is very good for little kids and very safe.
Well it sounds like a 2nd degree burn ~ Keep your eye out for bright red ~ Its going to take time, trust me to heal. The air at night is good ~ if there is a bubble (a fluid sack) do NOT burst it ~ Your body manufactures healing process and that sack of fluid is helping it to heal ~ Just like a blister, you should never bust it.. its your body protecting it ~ If needed, during the day to keep the bandage from sticking to it, use a bit of neosoporin ~ With any burn it is good to immediately immerse in cold water to take the burn out of it.

Advice for sunburned eyelids?

alright so yesterday went to kings island and even though i constantly keep reapplying sunscreen still got burnt, to the point i swear my eyelids are sunburned too, what can i do to prevent this again? any product thats safe for eyes? and is there anything i can use on my eyelids to like help it heal and feel better like idk aloe vera?
Answer:
What kind of burn is it? If it is a first degree burn, put a cold washcloth or teabags on it. If there is an eye-safe ointment, then use that on them. If it is a second degree burn, DO NOT use ointment. The best thing to do is the cold washcloth for about 20-40 minutes. I'm pretty sure that is what we learned in first aid...nothing for eyes really but that is the general burn treatment.
Wet tea bags (cold of course) will help with the pain as for prevention no idea
wear sun glasses or keep your eyes open
In order to prevent this from happening again, wear sun glasses with a UV block. In order to sooth the burn you can use aloe vera, just becareful not to get it into your eyes.

Advice about a scar?

I fell on asphalt a couple of months ago and now I have this big ugly scar on my knee. Is there anyway to get rid of it or at least make it fade? I've seen those topical ointments (Mederma, for example) in the stores but do they work?
Answer:
Massage is the best thing for a scar. The creams and lotions they advertise don't do much except encourage massage because you have to fully rub them into the skin. It's a waste of money if you ask me. I would get some regualr Vitamin E lotion and use that, it won't have much benefit from the lotion itself but will make it easier to massage the area. Massage helps to increase the collagen production which can help reduce the appearance fo the scars. You need to do it twice daily for about 5 minutes.
mederma works
Vitamin E oil works wonders and is over the counter.
Good Luck!
YES. TRY NEOSPORIN
Vitamin E oil. Sold at all drug stores...works like a charm!
I've used mederma, and it works some. You can also try using cocoa butter (what pregnant women use on their bellies to avoid stretch marks) because it makes the skin more elastic, which may help relieve some of the intensity of the scar.
I had a scar and used a patch called "scar guard" that worked pretty well. Its kind of like a big band aid with scar medication in it that you put on the scar and it helps it fade. You can barely see it on me anymore unless you look really hard. You can get it at your local drug store for a fairly decent price.
Rub vitamin E on it
I have found that it depends on how deep the wound was, and how soon you start treatment. I used Mederma on my stretch marks while pregnant and they are lighter in appearance. I have used it on older scars but did not get quite as good as a result. It helped lightened them a little bit, but I have scars that were serious wounds where I needed stitches.
Try MSM Cream or Powder. It was the best working of all the products I used for scars. Also take Vitamin C and Calcium Citrate every day. You can get the good quality MSM from Roex Inc, on their web site. My favorite web site is, we love colors.com.
They do work....use directions on bottle.
Mederma works, but it's expensive. Vitamin E oil does wonders as well. Just rub it on the scar and it will help with the healing, and fading, of the scar.
Aloe from your yard will work as well, and it's free but that's if you have any. But just rub some vitamin E in it and it'll get much better.

ADULTS: How many hours' sleep do you get? Do you feel it's enough?

Answer:
8 or so.not enough, 9-10 is ideal i think.
7-8 and no it's never enough lol
8 and NO! I'm pooped.
If I get 6 I"m good although when I'm working nights shifts and sleeping during the day I might only get 4-5 and I still feel good. If I sleep more than 7-8, I feel crappy.
5-7 hrs. it isn't nearly enough b/c i get up about 3 times a night so those hours are broken up. sometimes i feel like a talking monkey during the day.
sometimes about 6-8 but I still feel like going back to bed sometimes. i dont know what thats about. must be something in the air.
6-7 hours and no its not enough. I keep wakeing up the same time each morning, even weekends!!. Who needs an alarm clock!!.
Usually 5 to 7. No, it's not enough because it's usually not REM sleep.

Acl sprain- how do I repair it at home? No health Insurance!?

I did manage to get a brace though. I need to get my knee back in shape. It has been sprained since March 1st. Any help would be appreicated.
Answer:
How do you know it is just a sprain and that you injured the ACL? The best you can do is rest the knee for 4-6 wks to allow it to heal. The brace is probably rather useless in stabilizing the knee unless there are metal bars on the sides. Make sure you are keeping your quad muscle from shutting down by tightening the muscle with your leg straight out in front of you and pushing the back of your knee down. Hold for 10 seconds and do it 10 times. Do this daily for the next 2 wks. Also make sure the knee doesnt stiffen up by trying to bend it fully several times a day.
Go to a clinic. But put it in the brace and use crutches till you can slowly start putting weight on it.
Keep the brace on it and stay off of it as much as possible. Completely severed mine and it isn't fun having it repaired. You knee is weak and you have to be careful. The slightest turn can make it pop out of place. It is just like a sprain on the ankle, you have to really baby it. Get a brace that keeps the knee straight and in correct position if you already haven't. If it persists I would go seek medical help.
The same thing happened to me. My physio gave me 4 stretches to do. The stretches were Hamstring, Calf, Hip Flexor, and Hip/Glute Stretch. If you dont know how to do these then just search them up. Make sure you hold the stretches for a minimum of 30 seconds. The reason for the stretches is that your knee (if your muscles are tight) depends on these muscles to work but if the muscles are to tight they put stress on the knee making it more prone to injury. As well she told me to do single legged squats to strengthen the muscles that support the knee.

ACL Revision Surgery?

This is my 5th surgery on this knee most recent Microfracture Feb 2007. Having revision ACL done June 2007. Is my recovery time longer? I have read it can be anywhere from 3 -4 months or longer. I have a very physical job, bending, lifting, climbing stairs. Has anyone had the surgery and when did you start P.T. I have also read that does not start right away like my last ACL surgery? Thanks for all your help.
Answer:
The price of knee surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com...
Hope this helps.
I can understand your apprehension but really, you should be asking the surgeon who will be doing the procedure all your questions. Would you fully believe the input you get from this site?

ACL reconstruction surgury?

It's almost been a year since the injury took place. I was playing basketball and came down a little wierd and ended up tearing the MCL and partially tearing/stretching the ACL. My doctor said that I should be ok to continue playing ball as long as I am continually doing physical therapy to rehab it. However, when I run it feels very unstable and I am afraid that it will get worse if anything were to go out again. So I'm wondering what are the chances of a successful ACL reconstruction, about how much the surgury will cost, recovery time, etc. Basically, any information abt. an ACL/MCL injury and surgury. Thanks.
Answer:
my acl was reconstructed on may 25th. The surgery cost $5470 at the surgery center. the mri was $890 and i'm sure my doctor bill is in the mail. I have insurance thank god and have only been out 10%. I go to rehab therapy 3times a week now. I hope to be back at work in 2 weeks (from now). I have to wear a brace and use crutches now but that is standard. I am in no pain. Depending on where you live, i can recommend my surgeon. He is the best in my area and has worked with the best in the country.
my son had this done sveral yrs ago. not sure how much it will cost that depends on your insurance. but the surgury went fine and he was on crutches for about 6 wks had to go thru several weeks of physical therapy. and had to wear a special brace for that time. he got to play his sports the next school yr. this happened in football at the beginning of the school yr and was not able to play any sports that whole yr. but was able to the next yr.try to find a reputable sports ingury dr. good luck
See an orthopedic surgeon. He will ask for an MRI and then decide what to do with you after correlating the MRI findings and your signs and symptoms. He should explain to you in depth about the pros and cons of surgery and non-surgery. If he can't or doesn't, see another doctor.
I suggest that you go a GOOD Orthopedic surgeon who knows knees WELL!!!! Only a few peopel can actually get away with LOTS of rehab and having strong muscles and able to play sports with out surgery. It sounds like to me that you need surgery. Your knee is too unstable and you will risk more damage to the rest of the knee. If your MCL is partially torn, A good knee surgeon whould make you wear a knee brace, and do lOTs of Rehab for 6 to 8 weeks. and then he or she will reconstruct your ACL. Unless your MCL is comepletely shot then you'll have to have it reconstructed along with the ACL. Google ACLinjuries and Reconstruction for ACL. It can be a bit pricely, but it depends who does it and where you go for it and if you have insurance. Good luck . Who's your knee dr.

Acl reconstruction complications?

im going on my 6th week since acl surgery. im still on crutches and can't get leg all straight and can't bend past 105 degrees yet. am i way behind or am i ok. how long till i can walk again. im kinda getting frusterated and can't wait to get back to normal.
Answer:
You are way behind...you should have been off crutches in the first 2 wks, you should be able to get your knee all the way straight at this point, and your bending motion should be 120 degrees or more by 4 wks. Are you receiving physical therapy? If not then you need to start ASAP...if so then you and/or your PT is not doing a very good job at the rehab. If you dont get it all the way straight soon then you may never walk "normal" ever again without going through another surgery to remove scar tissue. Its the scar tissue that is limiting the range of motion.

Acl injury...what to do?

I tore my acl while i was playing soccer on sept. 9, had surgery on october 27th and now I am here, I was going to therapy for a while but it started to get to expensive, so Now i am stuck. I want to lose weight and i miss running but my knee does not have enough muscle to support itself. I can jog but only for a bout thirty seconds at a time without it either hurting or me being completly out of breath. How do i gain some muscle back and how can i get my bikin body back in the mean time?? m leg needs the work as does everything else, any answers?Oh and i really cant afford to fo back to physical thrapy, it was costing me about 100 bucks a week.
Answer:
If you can afford a gym membership then you should be okay. Start out by riding the stationary bike. Then I would go through an assortment of leg exercises. At this point you really need to strengthen your hamstrings they will compensate for the lack of strength in your quads. Also do single leg press on the squat machine. Don't do too much weight and focus on completing about 20 repetitions per set. I would do three 3 sets for each exercise. Ideally you should work out for about an hour a day 4 times a week. I would also stop running in the mean time and start participating light impact cardio. You can ride the bike, use the elyptical, go swimming, ect.
An ACL injury takes time to heal, and you may always have some issues with it for your lifetime. You could do excercises at home to mimic the physical therapy. Sitting with both legs together, and lifting them, and bending them, holding the position and then doing over again will strenthen the muscles in your thighs and knees. Keeping the thigh muscle strong is important to the support of the knee. Using hot tubs, hot springs will ease pain and the arthritis you are likely to develop in the knee. Ibuprofen works well for inflammation and pain. I would avoid contact running/jogging, it's really rough on your knees, and as you have found, the injured knee gets irritated quickly. Brisk walking would be better, utililizing a neoprene knee brace would help also. In fact, the brace may be useful from here on, and will ease inflammation and pain.
I would be very careful with trying to run...my friend tore her acl around the same time and her doctor told her that she should still be very careful about running on it...

Acid reflux??

i went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago with stomache pains and they told me that i had acid reflux. they told me to take prilosec and they prescribed me sucralfate. i still get mad pains in my stomache though whenever i eat fried foods. does anyone know how long i should wait before i try to eat fried foods again??
Answer:
I'm assuming your doctor ruled out gallbladder problems as the cause of your stomach pain. If that's the case I would try to eat fried foods in small amounts and see how your stomach tolerates it.
You need to cut out the fried foods since this seems to aggrivate your condition. Is it really that hard to cut out fried foods and go for baked or broiled instead?
I find your Doctors diagnosis interesting.
Do you actually have "heartburn" where stomach acid shoots up into your throat? Or do you have a burning sensation up through your esophagus?
That is acid reflux. I've lived with it for 25+ years. I did find out a long time ago I have a hiatal hernia which is most of my problem.
I've had the long cocktail of prescription drugs over the years from Tagamet , Zantac, Prilosec, Nexium, and currently once a day Prilosec OTC.
I found my worst reflux was during the night from like 3:00AM on until breakfast. So I began taking my daily dose like 1-2 hours before bedtime and like WOW, now I can sleep without being bothered with this condition.
If you were not properly tested for the Helicobactor pylori bacteria I would question whether you actually have any ulcerations at all.
When you speak of having difficulty eating fried foods, then a red flag goes up in my thoughts.
Have you been checked for a possible Gallbladder problem/condition? This could be the underlying cause of your stomach symptoms. Take this thought seriously.
You could have been misdiagnosed fairly easily.
I've had endoscopy's and colonoscopy's both and do so every 5 years. I started at about age 40 a few years ago.
IF you have had no previous stomach problems at all you should really consider that the cause may still be going untreated.

Acid reflux...and then some?

I have had acid reflux for about 4 years now and my dotcor told me to just take Prilosec daily. This has worked well this entire time. But I just got back from a week long vacation full of heavy drinking and smoking (pretty typical for me) and suddenly spicy foods burn my throat even going down. Has anyone had this happen? I'm just kind of concerned that the acid has been slowly making my throat worse. Ideas?
Answer:
the acid can cause lots of damage, you probably need stronger meds like Nexium or Omeprazole. You need to adjust your diet before you do permanent damage!
you got a seriouse condition you shouldn't be doing something stupid like eating spicey food or drinking alcohol. Now, acid reflux is a simple thing to stop. Antacids are just a temporary fix. They are not a cure. Everytime you feel it, just lie down and rub your tummy up and town and relax your back. When you sleep, lay on your right side to let the acid drain.
Like you I also have severe Acid Reflux.I got so used to taking Prilosec that it doesnt work anymore.Try taking Gaviscon Extra Strengh. Also try to avoid such spicy foods (as much as you can). The only real way to avoid acid reflux is to avoid or reduce consumption of foods and beverages that contain caffeine, chocolate, peppermint, spearmint, and alcohol. Both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee increase acid secretion.
There's also the other option of getting surgery (which I hear works wonders). If you continue to eat foods that give you heartburn it's only going to eat away at your lining. Also, to reduce such pain during heartburn, try lying on the left side rather than on the right. The stomach is located higher than the esophagus when a person sleeps on the right side, which can put pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), increasing the risk for fluid back-up. Good Luck!

Aching joints and tendons...?

I'm 34 going on 35. Recently my joints and tendons started to ache. It's not real severe pain but i'm wondering if it's going to get much worse. I heard about Rhumatoid arthritis but i'm hoping i don't end up with it. What can i do about this problem? Please help. Thanks.
Answer:
I would see your doctor, but until you see your doctor I would try to stretch out your body, try ibuprofen and maybe ice and heat. I don't think it would be Rheumatoid arthritis because usually people have that for most of their life, but there is a few times when it does develop later in life. Good luck!
Aching joints can have many reasons. A recent study showed that a majority of people who have had tick bites suffer from this problem, among others. Unfortunately, most have been diagnosed with fibromayligia, chronic fatigue, etc. Lyme disease can be fixed. See your doctor for tests.

Aching elbow joint (inside of arm).?

I woke up yesterday with an aching sensation in my left elbow joint on the inside part of my arm. I tried to ignore it but this morning it appears to have gotten worse. Especially when I bend my arm so my hand is near my face, etc.
The weired thing is that now my right arm is starting to ache slightly.
Has anyone experienced something like this before, I do not have time at the moment to go to my doctor.Sensible answers only please. No time wasters.
Answer:
do you suffer with pins and needles in the morning after waking up and it goes away during the day,to confirm diagnosis you need to have a special test done where small amount of current is passed through the fingers and if confirmed it sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome, this is where the nerve in the wrist has become trapped and needing minor surgical procedure (day case)under local anaesthetic and takes 6 weeks to heel.thee other symtom could painfull all the time and this could be called tennis elbow(no you dont have to play tennis)to is can cured by injections normally two at about 6 weeks apart this is a cortizone injection.if the pain is over the elbow then this called golfers elbow.
CHECK WITH YOUR GP AS I AM NOT PISS TAKING.
most likely you were doing something the day before that triggered it...another thing could be the change in weather..
It could be Arthritis.
If you have a baby or in school and loaded down with homework, it could be you are carrying a car seat or bag on the inside of your elbow and it's just too much. And the right one hurting, you could just be relying too much on it from the pain in your left, causing problems. If it's a burning, definatley go to the doctor asap, could be carpal tunnel...Either way, it's not going to get better on it's own. Start taking some otc anti-inflammatories like advil/ibuprofen. Anyways, good luck and I hope somehow you get an answer.
it could be caused by any repetative movement e.g. lifting heavy objects building up pressure on the inside of the elbow. people get confused between lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and medial epicondylitis (golfers elbow). on the inside of the arm tends to be golfers elbow. i have had it in both elbows for 18 months now and have had regular visits to GP's, physio, X-rays etc. (they just wont give me steroid injections) and i still have it. all i recommend is that you rest it now because if you rest it later it could be too late because 4 months ago i took time out of what i do and rested it and it got worse but it improved by me slowly building movement back up in it. never rest it completely because it will stiffen and restrict movement in the tendon making it sore and swollen. try anti inflammatories, heat and cold applications (icepacks and heat pads) and some small stretches dont force it. i am still doing the stuff i did before and the problem is slowly going away because i did some light muscle building to build the muscle around the joint because this also helps the joint because there is something else there to endure some of the pressure but just try resting it as much as possible even though time is an issue just try to make time because you dont want these problems to continue. if pain persists try and get down a GP it may be arthritis or it may just be golfers elbow or something else. hope this is helpful

Aching arms?

my arms have been aching from my elbow to my fingers. it feels like i have been lifing weights what could it be.
Answer:
This sounds like tendinitis and you need to see a medical doctor or physical therapist for treatment. I would take a break from lifting weights until you see the doctor.
i am not sure only advice i can give is see a doctor no mater what the answers here are givin it is better to b safe rather than sorry

Aching Achilles Tendons?

I generally wear flat shoes, but lately my achilles tendons really ache... They ache when I stand, walk, climb stairs etc. The only relief that I get is when I'm sitting down.I sit with my legs straight out in front of me, soles of my feet to the floor or crossed at the ankles.I need some non-medicated relief as I'm starting to hobble around the office. Only sensible answers please - thanks.
Answer:
I too suffer with Achilles problems - I'm having a sports massage this evening to try and relieve some of the discomfort. The problem could well be your flat shoes. They may mean that your Achilles is hyperextending when you walk. A podiatrist would sort you out, possibly with inserts for your shoes. There are also lots of stretches that you can do easily in order to make them more flexible.I hope you resolve your problem soon

Achilles Tendonitis treatment?

I have a mild case of Achilles Tendonitis. Other than resting, what can I do to heal up so I can get back on the treadmill?
Answer:
Generally with achilles tendinitis resting is a must. Other helpful treatments are taking an over the counter anti-inflammatory (Advil, Aleve, etc) as directed on the bottle, gentle stretching of the gastroc/soleus (calf muscles), and icing. The best method to icing the achilles tendon is to fill a paper cup half full with water, freeze it, peel back the cup to expose half of the ice, and rub the ice on the achilles tendon for 3-5 mins until numb. If this doesn't work in the next 10-14 days then go see a orthopedic doctor and get a referral for physical therapy.
Use ice for 10 to 15 minutes a few times a day. Take some anti-inflammatory. Warm up easy and well before exercising, cool down and do gentle stretching. Since the tendons have a limited blood flow it takes longer to heal than muscles.
use anti-inflammatory e.g. aspirin, but check for contra indication first e.g. stomach ulcer
ask a sports doc he will help you
Consult a sports clinic specialist and let him assess the extent of your injuries. He would be able to advise you what you can or cannot do so as not to further aggravate your current situation.

Accidently got stabbed by a pencil?

i was walking barefoot on my carpet, and i accidently stepped on a pencil. it went in and i quickly pulled it out. it looks like a deep cut and the very top of the pencil chipped a little bit... what should i do?? i tried to see if i could see any of the graphite, but i couldnt
Answer:
Either your leg will fall off, you will loose all of your fingernails and half of your hair, the whites of your eyes will turn purple, and you will have herpes for the rest of your life (all of which will cause anyone you date to run screaming in the other direction, turning you into one of those old people with 37 cats and a house that smells funny), or, you'll be absolutely fine and have nothing to worry about.
i think its ok it will not be harmful but if you will take hot shower it will be good i think
I don't exactly know what graphite could do to your foot, but it may be a good idea to call a local foot doctor and get some input. Keep a close eye on it and make sure that it doesn't get infected. If it starts to change colors, turn red, or swell, go to the doc asap.
ouch!when i was young (5/6) i was running with a pencil in my mouth,i fell and the pencil went back my throat.i damaged my voice box and couldn't talk for a few days!u should make sure all the splinters of wood are out of your foot.if there is some granite still under the skin, maybe soak your foot in some warm salty water to soften the skin and then take it out with a tweezers.
Hurry and cut off your foot before it spreads through your blood stream. There's no time to consult a doctor.
Any type of puncture wound can be serious.A puncture from a pencil can be also. You need to soak and scrub your foot for 15 minutes, with soap %26 water. Then pour some hydrogen peroxide over the wound, let it bubble, and rinse.Cover with a bandaid, you can use a triple antibiotic cream like Neosporin, and change the bandaid daily. If there is any signs of infection swelling, and redness, and drainage, you need to see your MD.If it's been more than 5 years since you've had a "Tetanus" booster, you should get one. You also may be left with a tatoo from the lead. Take care. SW RNP
You need to see a doc to make sure it's all out.
Check into lead poisoning too.

Accident. Please Help?

Hi this weekend i was in Jersy. Deal to be exact riding down norwood avenue. I was on the wrong side of the street on a bicycle. And some women came from behind her car she was putting her groceries in the trunk and the second she came out i hit her with my bike it was basiclly unavoidable. I then saw it was my moms friend. She was pregnanat and i may have caused a misscarrige i feel like shoit and do not know how to do how to apologize and how to conduct myself i cannot beleive what i ahve done Please help my fellow friends
Answer:
Wow...what a horrible situation...i don't think being hit with a bicycle could cause a miscarriage...the baby is well padded. If there was already a problem, it could have sped it up. Definitely apologize and check on her.
Poor pregnant woman.

Abscessed Pulled, now pain, please help?

I just had an abscessed primary (baby) tooth pulled. The area where the tooth was pulled really hurts now, i have been home from the dentists for about an hour and I feel the pain in the area, and on the side of my face. Is this normal and if so how long can I expect pain to last? The abscess was pulled with the infection still, but they said that its normally ok if its just a baby tooth. Any feedback as well as remedies are welcome. Is it really supposed to hurt a lot afterwards this soon?
Answer:
It is NOT ok to pull an abcess while the infection is still viable. I am hoping they gave you antibiotics; if not, call them back and demand some. The infection could spread. Abcesses are nothing to play around with, even if it is "baby" teeth. As for your pain, since it is STILL infected, the pain is normal. They should have also given you a pain reliever of some sort. If not, call back and demand some of those as well.If the cavity itself is inflamed, the pain will remain until the infection is treated properly. If not, the pain will remain for a day or so. Honestly, your dentist sounds like an idiot. Call that office and demand the medication you should have received to begin with - then switch dentists.
Normally they numb the area when they pull the tooth and it takes 3 hours to feel right again after the tooth has been pulled. try taken some tablets that you know work for you.
I'll assume that wisdom teeth are the same, but your probly hurt a LOT. It's going to, and the only remedy that I know of is to drink a milkshake without the straw.
