After a DVT where clot is behind knee, is it better to wear compression stockings below knee or above?

GP says usually it is given the below knee type but they are really below and keep falling down to ankle and still after being measured properly. I am not convinced. I was given Dr. Scholl brand.
Answer:
Id use a thigh high, as the clot was behind your knee, and the last thing you want is the compression stocking pressing where the DVT was.
And if the stocking is falling down, then i strongly recommend getting another brand. They need to be relatively tight against your skin, or they arnt doing you any good.
My dad went to the local pharmacy and brought a good pair which lasted him for the 6months he needed to wear it for.
try the thigh-highs. you can get them at a medical supply store. i have 2 pairs, got them after 2 major surgeries, and i wear them to work to help prevent leg fatigue and varicose veins.
Dr Scholl is a crap brand. You need a proper medical grade stocking like Sigvaris. You can start off with the thigh high, then get a knee high. Knee highs are much better in the long run.
When I had this problem, I was given prescription thigh high hose to wear. Mention this to your doctor and then follow his/her recommendation.
